Writing Exercise Challenge Accepted: Smash Reveal · 8:30pm Feb 16th, 2019

Inspired by MythrilMoth's challenge, I thought I'd go ahead and give it a shot. Heck, I even made one reveal myself.

We open up with Fox and Falco dueling it out with Wolf in a cityscape (let’s assume Corneria). Despite their best efforts, Wolf appears to be getting the upper hand. The Star Fox Team still stand, but exhausted.

“I am the terror that flaps in the night.”

That echoey voice from nowhere has even Wolf looking around like crazy.

“I am the unexpected arrival in every Nintendo Direct.”

Smoke comes out from a rooftop and a strange figure is gradually. Audiences should realize well by now when he spreads his cape.

“I am Darkwing Duck!”

He jumps to their level, pulls out his gas gun, and says,

“Let’s. Get. Dangerous!”

Fight Style: A majority of his moves come from his gas gun; there are some martial arts moves involved, but should they not contact with his enemies, he would lose his balance and leave him a bit open to attack (a good example would be his up-smash).

Neutral Special: Gas Gun - Simply tapping the B button will make him fire pellets like Fox’s blaster. Holding with button will have him charge up and release a gas spray that will make opponents sleepy. Charge it for too long and he will go boom.

Side Special: Rat Catcher - Unlike Wario’s Road Hog, the bike is more of a projectile; DW will take out a microphone and the Rat Catcher runs forth and attacks any enemy. There is a bit of time needed before the vehicle can be used again.

Up Special: Grappling Hook - Like Zero Suit Samus’ up special in Brawl, DW will fire his grappling hook at the nearest ledge

Down Special: Smoke - Akin to Meta Knight’s Dimensional Cape, DW will transport him a short distance across the stage. NOT to be used as a recovery move.

Final Smash: The Thunderquack - Basically a Final Smash answer to the Dragoon from Kirby’s Air Ride and subsequent item in the Smash Series.

Costume Ideas

Drake Mallard (DW’s alter ego)
Nega-Duck (Perhaps as an Echo Fighter)
Launchpad
Quackerjack
Scrooge McDuck
Donald Duck (Not Kingdom Hearts)

Stage: New Bridge Construction (from the NES Game) - Basically a side-scrolling stage akin to Mushroomy Kingdom. Enemies from that level dot the stage, perhaps even the boss, Quackerjack.

The movie switches from the usual cinematic style to one of a comic book. A worm’s eye view of the battle; even with DW, the fight is still in Wolf’s favor.

“You think they want to mix it up with us?” Questions a hip voice.

“If they don’t, I don’t like the odds.”, say’s another.

“Well, we fought ninjas, aliens, and mutant animals. C’mon! I’m itching for a fight!”

Returning to the cinematic style, four figures drop into the fight and are revealed in their poses on the first issue cover of the Mirage Comics.

The Turtles Strike Kick Shell!

Leonardo brings his katana forward.

“Let’s do this!”

“Cowabunga!” They all cry out.

Fight Style: Akin to Pokemon Trainer, pressing the Down B will switch turtles. Each of them have their own stats (Donatello has the longest reach, Raphael the shortest reach but is the swiftest of them etc) and fighting moves; with four turtles, that’s saying a lot, but I can list one each.

Side Special (Raphael): Cork Screw Spin - Similar to Pikachu’s/Pichu’s Skull Bash or Luigi’ Green Missile, but it can’t be charged and isn’t recommended for recoveries.

Side Special (Donatello): Spin Thrust - Don’s bo staff augments itself with a drill bit before thrusting his weapon at enemies. This weapon can be charged, but it can leave him open to attack

Up Special (Leonardo): Weed Whacker - In a mixture of Link’s and Donkey Kong’s Up Special, Leonardo spins around with his katanas.

Down Special (Michelangelo): Round Off - Mikey will do a backflip axe kick.

Final Smash: The Shellraiser - Should the vehicle contact any and all fighters, a cutscene plays out akin to the intro of 2003 (Michelangelo on the Shellraiser spinning like crazy as Donatello comes out of the side, operating the side guns that shoot missiles at the enemy).

Stage: Technodrome (Let’s Kick Shell!) - In the lobby, fighters deal with MOUSERS and Kraang Droids as well as each other. On a rarer occasion do Bebop and Rocksteady/Tokka and Rahzar appear, and force a “boss fight.” On the rarest occasion would they fight either Kraang himself in his robot body.

Now it’s Wolf who gets beat. On his knee’s, he looks up at the blade at his snout.

“You have fought honorably.” Leonardo remarks.

“And you make Rahzar look good.” Mikey adds before getting a slap from Raphael.

Wolf growls while sneaking a cluster bomb from his belt. Donatello notices this and throws his staff at the villain. The explosion gets the Turtles and DarkWing flying back to Fox and Falco. Wolf Pulls out his blaster.

“You’re good, but I’m-“

A small, purple cartoon elephant drops on Wolf. Both veteran and newcomer are puzzled at the sight of the pachyderm when the beast starts glowing. Replacing the elephant is a girl with a long ponytail, elf ears, and belly dancer getup.

Fight Style: Shantae has a mixture of her genie powers and her moves from Pirates Curse. Her hair whip can be a bit of a spam move like the fan, albeit slower. Her smash attacks and aerials incorporate most of the animal transformations (Side Smash can be Elephant, Aerial Down the Harpy Claw). Her specials incorporate the Pirate’s Curse Move Set

Neutral Special: Pistol - plays similarly to Diddy Kong’s pistol/Darkwing’s Gas Gun; simply tapping it would release a bullet, a full charge (provided one doesn’t hold too long) would bring a scatter shot (2-3 bullets, depending on if you’re in the air).

Side Special: Risky’s Sword - Scimitar in hand, Shantae dashes across the stage.

Up Special: Risky’s Hat - Shantae uses her arch enemies hat to glide to safety. On it’s own, there isn’t any initial air increase like Peach’s Parasol, which brings us to-

Down Special: Cannon - On the ground, the cannon fires across the stage. But in the air, it adds additional lift and is recommended as a combo alongside the Up Special.

Final Smash: Zombie Caravan - Rottytops’ carriage rushes across the stage, doing heavy damage and potentially KO’ing opponents.

Nega Shantae
Risky Boots (Perhaps an Echo Fighter; changes would have to be made to her non-specials and final smash).

Stage: Mermaid Falls - Like Hyrule Temple, the numerous spots do allow campouts and surprise attacks. Has day and night variants; In the daytime, warrior Mermaids would jump out, fire a bubble move then dive back down provided they aren’t destroyed. But at night, they are replaced by the Nagas. Both versions involve an occasional tail slap from Giga Mermaid.

Once the Gameplay is done, the ground rumbles. The Technodrome emerges from the ground. The entrance opens, revealing the silhouettes of each of the New Comers Arch Enemies (Should they be echo fighters at the least, they would have a brief video game montage) and an army of Tinkerbats, Foot Ninja’s and MOUSERS.

“These intros are always getting less subtle.” Darkwing Duck remarks.

“Ready for another fight?” Asks Raphael, raising his Sai.

“I’m Ret-2-Go!” Shantae answers while drawing a scimitar.

The turtles lead the charge, yelling out,

“Let’s Kick Shell!”

when the Smash Title Screen shows up.
