Hey everyone. Some of you might have noticed by now that my story has been placed on hiatus. I just wanted to talk briefly about that.
Most of you who’ve been following me for a while know that I’ve been struggling with motivation for the better part of a year now, (longer than that, in truth, but it’s only been really bad since I posted that blog last summer) and it all came to a head last month when the story experienced a small spike in negative feedback--one example of which was a downvote on my birthday, after I’d spent the whole day in bed with the flu. (Gee, thanks.) Normally, stuff like that wouldn’t bother me so much, but with my motivation already hanging by a thread, it kind of ended up being the final nail in the coffin.
Now, to be clear, this doesn’t mean I’m quitting. It just means I’m re-arranging the way I do things, and I’m taking a break--for real this time. I never actually took one before and it needs to happen; all this business off trying to write new material while proofreading/editing older chapters, as well as publishing chapters is a lot to juggle at once. Add that to real life nonsense, and you get where I’m coming from.
So what I’ve decided to do is stop publishing for the time being, and I’m reducing my work load down to writing new stuff ONLY. This is much easier for a number of reasons, one of them being what I just said above, but also, all this jumping back and forth in the timeline screws me up and I have a hard time keeping it all straight--not to mention the fact that I don’t want to put something in an older chapter that you guys aren’t supposed to know about yet.
Once the whole thing is written (it’s projected to be about 160 chapters, give or take--about 24 left to write) that will take a MASSIVE load off, and all I’ll have left to do between publishing chapters is proofreading/editing--a process that has become more stringent and time consuming as I evolve.
Anyway, I hope you all can understand, the last thing I want is to leave you hanging, but if I keep going the way I am I’m gonna end up rage-quitting or something like that. I don’t want that. And to be honest, when I went on hiatus in late 2017, I did my best writing during that time because I could focus 100% on what I was doing without having to shift gears and proofread older stuff.
That’s about it for now. I just thought I should let you know what’s happening. In the meantime, I’m on here most days, and if any of you want to know how things are progressing with the story --or anything at all, really-- feel free to PM me or leave something on my user page. Nothing motivates me more than knowing people are interested in my work; it helps me a lot more than you can imagine!
And I'll probably drop in to leave a song here and there, just so you guys know I haven't forgotten about you... AND because I love music, in case you haven't noticed. Speaking of which, I’ll leave you with a tune right now, one that’s about something that I seem to have very little of lately.
