Today is Tara Strong's birthday. She is of course the talented woman who voices Twilight Sparkle and her human counterpart (nicknamed Sci-Twi by the fandom) in the Equestria Girls franchise. She has also voiced Twilight as a filly, a baby (in a recent short), and voiced Twilight Velvet during the character's first on-screen speaking role at the end of "The Crystalling, Part 2" (the role was recast to Patricia Drake for "Once Upon a Zeppelin").
By now I have of course mentioned that some of her most popular roles did not originate with her (she took over on Bubbles, Bat-Girl/Barbra Gordon, and Timmy Turner. In the former two cases it was because the original VA was busy with other projects and in the third it was because the original VA committed suicide), and that she originally auditioned in the show to voice Pinkie Pie but Lauren Faust insisted she voice Twilight Sparkle instead (though Tara did voice Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash in a parody).
Happy birthday, Tara Strong. While Season 8 was not a great outing for Twilight Sparkle, I know it wasn't your fault she turned out the way she did and you still voiced her well in spite of that. And after what "The Best Gift Ever" had to offer, I am hopeful that Season 9 will give you a chance to once again potray Twilight at her best. Thanks for letting us know. Yeah, oddly enough, Tara Strong actually auditioned for the role of Applejack before being convinced to voice Twilight instead. And, as a bit of irony, she's actually getting to voice an Applejack Expy in "Them's Fightin' Herds".
And, as for "Ail-icorn", yeah, I can't be the only one who thinks that short might have actually been better as a whole length episode (i.e. showing how Twilight fell ill in the first place, going into a bit more detail on some of the things Twilight's friends tried before Pinkie showed up with Zecora's home-made remedy and showing Spike and the rest of the Mane Six taking care of a baby Twilight until the remedy's side effect wears off).
But I digress. I DO hope Miss Strong DOES have a happy birthday with her family and friends.

5013251 Yeah. She's welcome to have her political opinions but she needs to keep them to herself. Professional voice actors aren't hired because of their political opinion. What they want to do with their personal lives is their concern and their concern alone.

Exactly, if I was one of those actors, like Tara, I'd keep my mouth shut about stuff like that, but I guess some of them have to vent, speak their mind, she does that WAAAAAAYYY too much on Twitter XD And although I agree to disagree with some of her political points, we're all getting tired of it by now. Rather listen to her talk about her career, or how much she loves all people that she inspired over the years, or talk about her other friend actors, like EG Daily or Mark Hamill. 🙂
5013447 Let's not forget the roles she inherited from others. Timmy Turner and Harley Quinn in particular deserve special notice. For Timmy Turner, she was succeeding Mary Kay Bergman after her unfortunate suicide, and Tara was close friends with Mary and her understudy Grey DeLisle (now Grey Griffin). And for Harley Quinn, she was handpicked by Arleen Sorkin to succeed her when Arleen decided to retire, because Tara had the most experience in projects since Harley's creation and had worked with much of the same talent.
