    Damn peer pressure

Almost all reviews/comments for my Mass Effect/40k story have one thing in common. They wanted the Inquisitor to live.

Now, that was the original plan, but as I plotted out the story, I came across two problems. One; too many characters, and two; Character redundancy. The first problem is easy enough to explain. Mass Effect already has a ton of characters, and I'm just adding more.

    State of the Author.

Hello everybody. Got a few things to say here, so bear with me. If that sounds ominous, let me reassure everyone that I am not leaving Fimfiction anytime soon.

Mass Effect: Universal Outcasts has just been released.

It's a little late, but I managed to crank it out finally. As promised, simultaneously launched and Fanfiction.net and AO3. Links below the break.

Just saw the Detective Pikachu trailer...

And I can't tell what Jigglypuff would do if you fell asleep; scribble on or stab you.

The second problem was unique to the Inquisitor. He was basically another Shepard, and I couldn't figure out how to solve that problem, so I killed him off. But he turned out surprisingly popular.

Now, the beauty of 40k is that I can go back on that decision without retconning. There's enough archeotech bullshittery or warp shenanigans that I can bring him back. But it still feels like a cop out. Luckily I'm early enough in the second chapter that I don't have to change anything if I do decide to rez him.

follow the plan man

Heyo, sorry if you get asked this a lot, but is Halo: On the Wings of Angels cancelled?

On topic, do whatever is best for the story! You know you've written a good character when their absence doesn't subtract from the plot but is missed yet by your community. Whether not you want to resurrect him is up to you, ultimately! Seeing your literary works for the past 8 years, I know you'll do the right thing by us.

Sure, give the fans what they want. Bring him back.
As a corpse possessed by a daemon in disguise No strings attached.
Happens in 40K all the time. Status quo must be maintained and whatnot.

I am gonna guess FanFiction? Also title and or link via PM, you have piqued my curiosity?

I don't know what AO3 is so I will go with the Fanfiction one.

I wasn't originally going to comment, but here it goes.

From a certain standpoint, the Inquisitor was essential, even if you think his role would be duplicated with a ME char, he's the only justification for the rest of the group to exist at all. Regardless of if the others get stuck in the ME universe, by canon, most of them are fairly fanatical individuals.

A Sisters of battle, a space marine (don't remember what chapter) and a techpriest? Sure, they may well get together and work well together in a 40k world, but in ME where xenos abound? Without someone to keep a leash on them, a force they'd respect and obey (like an Inquisitor) they'd just as likely start purging. Plus the techpriest may well just go nuts regardless.

Just because I wasn't clear, he's a Deathwatch Blackshield. His parent chapter will come up and be important later.
