Celestia and Nopony. · 12:20pm Feb 5th, 2019
Reading comments and having the same person refer to them as Nopony in one situation and Celestia in another makes me curious.
What’s your headcanon on how these two work specifically in tandem with each other?
Celestia Sol Invictus is the big, important, wise, ruler pony mask that Nopony puts on, when they realise that they have to act responsibly. When the command of a Queen is needed to keep rebellious nobles, rapacious business ponies, or self-obsessed morons in line and not exploiting others or skirting around justice.
Nopony Special is who Celestia wants to really be, to throw away the crown, and the throne, and just help their little ponies by being a friend, or a mentor, or a confidant, or a parental figure. Helping them become better ponies, even if it's in a non-standard method.
She just messes with people in non sensical ways

This sounds like how I think of Celestia. She's a lot of fun and enjoys helping ponies but you don't want to cross her or be mean to her subjects.

Really?

I totally agree with this Celestia is the mask while Nopony is her true self. Kinda like how some people, like me, see Bruce Wayne as the mask and Batman as his true face.
Eh, phenomenal cosmic power, it seems like being bi-locational shouldn't be a problem. Mental issues might even make it easier.
That being said, the ability to be bi-locational across vast distance was an accepted 'miracle' for canoninzation once upon a time. Saint Nopony, anyone?

Or to just sleep in a box for a year.
Celestia is genderfluid. Nopony is just the name he uses when he's in guy mode because he has some ironic detachment about the difference between who they really are and The Victorious Sun Princess who is kind of just a mask. Also because after a thousan years, they're kind of Weird now
I think Celestia just likes verbally shitposting
I think Celestia has developed her royal persona very well, and became it to a certain extent. However, everypony needs a release. She possibly developed Nopony as more of a solid thing to depress and categorize her urges as well as someone to become in order to forget her royal duties. She's had years to sit on her throne and do the same thing day after day after day with few breaks in between, which probably made it stronger (especially after Luna was banished). Nopony could also be a bit of an escape valve for when Celestia feels her resolve slipping. It's never a good idea to split your personality but cramming your bad thoughts into another you (I'm still not sure if she transformed or split off Nopony in the last chapter) is better than breaking the royal image/kingdom, right??
Goodness knows I like to talk to myself sometimes, and sometimes view parts of me as being "the other me". It might be worse for Celestia. Presumably ponies like to be in pairs for long-term health but considering that there are no male alicorns that we know of it must be rather difficult for Celestia to deal with certain things, emotionally and otherwise.
Maybe I'm off the wall here, but those are my thoughts.
Celestia is the mask, or at least formal persona, that helps ponies generally. Nopony is the truer, or at least more expressive, persona that helps ponies personally.

This
I mean, like, if you were 1111(+) years old, and had to act all royal and shit every day of your life, you'd want to kick back and relax every once in a while too. That Celestia's idea of relaxing - or perhaps more accurately: 'getting away' - is to be a lazy male homeless slob, is inconsequential. Nopony and Celestia are very much the same pony. As far as I can recall in the story, every thing that Nopony has done, and however he's behaved, seems all to be an extension of Celestia's canon personality. She's a troll, she takes things too lightly sometimes, finds joy in little things, a little bit conniving and she's probably a prankster.
Now, if you're asking which of the two is the 'real' version, I'd have to say Nopony. Simply based on the fact that you wouldn't take a vacation to be someone else unless you felt like weren't being your true self the rest of the time.
That having been said, the real question is: was Celestia always this way? Or is it a result of being a benevolent ruler for over a thousand years?
Celestia is a figment of everyone's imagination.
Nopony is Scoot's dad while Celestia is Scoot's mom. That they are the same pony is irrelevant since they are never both at once.

That is actually cannon. While under the influence of Wonder Woman's lasso and asked his identity, his answer was "Batman".

That seems an unnecessary addition.
Also... She's freakin Celestia and a brother porking sun raising narwhal hawk horse to boot. Whose going to argue with her?
