Monthly Progress Update [January 2019] · 3:50pm Jan 15th, 2019
Belated happy new year to everyone reading! Have been a bit busy over here as of late. I wanted to get something out on New Year's Eve to cap off what's been a generally quirky 2018 and welcome in the new one with something more light-hearted, though apart from several instances where I come on and burst forth a hundred or so words that may or may not get deleted in the future, I was pretty much preoccupied with a boatload of other real life stuff.
Also, my laptop's hard drive finally tanked after a graphics driver update and the files couldn't be retrieved. Didn't lose any progress on any stories thankfully, though I did lose a couple of notes and outlines I use to keep track of everything I'm writing. Salvageable from memory, sure, but it's still a bump in the road to be reckoned with.
I'm technically still working on getting what was essentially the New Years story out, mostly because I had a lot of fun writing it alongside everything else. Won't spoil anything for now but it definitely revitalized my energy for writing, at the very least. As for the new chapters of Feyspeak, Panthalassa and Perhaps Death, they're all halfway done. Just need to fill in their other halves and iron out any wrinkles before hitting the bright green 'Publish' button.
Unrelated, but also it's been a relatively quiet month for music so far. I have a lot of obscure recommendations, though I'd rather have a more diversified array of genres in the palette to pick and choose from before making my monthly list. Right now, all I have on the list are black metal and psychedelic rock albums which I'm aware isn't exactly everyone's favourite cup of tea. I'd probably whittle down my choices for this month and foist them upon all my February picks instead.
Capping things off, I'll be getting that new year story out before the end of the month. It's a bit of an experiment and honestly, I don't know how well it'll be received. All I'll say for now that it's a slice-of-life story first and a romance story second, with several strange snippets interlaced in between. I guess you could call them my attempt at surrealism? Either way, it's definitely something new I'm tackling, so I hope it comes out well.
That's it from me for now. Back to writing horse words for another year.
