Reminder: SCRIPTFest 2019 submissions must be in by January 31st · 3:11pm Jan 3rd, 2019
EDIT: Contest deadline extended
New deadline is 11:59pm PST, January 31st!
Just a friendly reminder, you still have until midnight on January 15th 31st to submit your episode scripts for our writing contest!
For those that haven't been following the official Everfree Website or other social media accounts, I'm including a summary of the contest below.
Welcome to Scribblefest 2019! Or should we say: SCRIPTfest 2019!
That's right, it's screenplay time!
We want you to write an episode script worthy of the show itself.
We're hoping to give one winning author the experience of a lifetime by having their script read live, on the Mane Stage of EFNW 2019 by our VIP guest voice actors. Prior to that, the winner will have their script read and have "notes given" by Nicole Dubuc, story editor and writer for the show itself. (Please note that this is not an "audition" or "application" for any script to become an actual episode and that Nicole will not be serving in any HASBRO capacity with her given commentary.) The winner will then work with our staff and Community Guest writers to implement any final changes and give a final polish to their script before the stage read.
Essentially, this may be as close a fandom writer can get to having their episode produced without actually getting hired onto the show.
Additionally, a printed copy of the script (as used at the table read) will be signed by all the guest actors/writers for the winner to keep.
Second and third place will also get printed copies of their scripts signed.
Go here for more details, rules, and information on how to enter.
... You had a whole year to work with, and you're announcing the contest 12 days before its deadline?
Yeah, this is news to me. Hoy.
Someone dropped the ball...
This is literally the first time I've heard of this contest.
Uh... guys?
As ambitious as this contest is, I'm not sure twelve days, on minimal notice, is enough for most people to enter it. You might have to scrub , or at least retool, here.
Other people have already mentioned this, but having less than two weeks to write a polished 30-page teleplay is insane.
I get that the contest started earlier, but to only get a notification about it now is... pretty bad.
It's a shame because I really like the premise of this contest and I'd be interested in entering, but I don't even think I have the physical time to write something that could be a serious contender.
What?! What happened to a month or two?!
Well, no one said writing is easy...
Can we post these on fim?
Oh, wow!! I'm glad I happened to check in - I thought we usually had til the end of February to submit something, but this?! Wow! I'm truly impressed at the short turnaround... but I'm intrigued!!
I may try my hand at this, if only because I'm very sick and have a lot of free time right now! No guarantees, but - good luck, everyone! đź‘€
Dang, I wish I'd known of this sooner, have an idea I'd definitely want to try submitting, but the army's a jealous consumer of my time

So, it was actually announced at the start of December:

But sadly, yes, the ball got dropped and FIMFiction got skipped as one of the outlets. My sincere apologies for that. I was personally busy with the holidays, and in previous years, media relations has handled posts here, but apparently not this year. As this is, obviously, the core of our fandom's writing community, that's not cool. I'm going to extend the deadline through the end of January, which should hopefully give everyone that wishes to enter a reasonable amount of time.
New deadline is 11:59pm PST, January 31st!

For the record, this is on me. As noted, I handed off the announcement blurb to our media department, as they couldn't announce it until after some guests (such as Nicole) were announced, and assumed they'd hit all the "social media" with it (which in years past included FIMFic.) I then left on a trip and forgot to follow up and make sure it got posted here.
So, my sincere apologies for that, but as mentioned above, the deadline is being extended. Hopefully four weeks is enough time.

Your writing remains yours, even if entered in our contest, and you can post elsewhere as you please. That said, FIMFiction itself does not (as far as I know) allow stories to be submitted in script format, so you'd likely need to find another outlet.

thank you. Still a bit close for comfort, BUT way more reasonable to make something of quality. Also, you may want to also make another blog post here on that too ^^'

You can't post them on fim, because scripts are prohibited on fimfiction. It's one of the many rules laid down in the early days because certain types of stories irritated knighty or his friends--like that a story has to be in English, can't be a "user manual", can't be a "metafiction", etc. You have to affirm that you aren't violating any of these rules every time you post to fimfiction.
Writing comic porn about Shining Armor raping Flurry Heart is still totes fine, though.
Thanks for the extension, anonymous Everfree Northwest writing track person/pony!

The EFNW account is usually me (at least for this year), as I'm the writing track lead again. My staff and/or others from the con may post via it from time to time though. I just wanted to post an apology from my own account as well, so it's easier for people to know for sure who derped it up.

I will likely let this settle for a day or so then post about the extension tomorrow.

Oopsies! Well, I guess I should check Twitter more often! Thanks for the extension! I hope that won't be a problem with the script-review portion of the contest! But it'll give me more time to review Season 8 for character purposes - I'm a little behind!
