Marwile watches SAO 2 Part 19 "Finally, Mother's Rosario" · 11:01pm Dec 14th, 2018
Finally, FINALLY, we get to Mother's Rosario, what many claim to be the only good part of SAO's first two seasons. I'm actually a teensy tiny little bit excited. And luckily not much happened this episode, for once I mean that in a good way. We had some calm and simple setup and exposition sprinkled with some nice character interactions. Also good because my family distracted me during the episode so I could only half pay attention. Also also good is the fact that Kirito's asleep for essentially the whole episode.
We start the episode with... the girls doing homework in Kirito's and Asuna's lodge in New Aincrad. Someone asks if it's hot in there and the others point at the sleeping Kirito... that's all that happens before the OP.
For those that are confused about the location we get a lengthy flashback about them first finding out that the next update for New Aincrad includes the floor their old lodge was on and then them clearing the floors as fast as possible so they can re-buy it. It also includes a scene of Asuna being proactive during battle and switching from supporter to attack when necessary.
The other girls are telling Asuna of a mysterious new player called Zekken. She doesn't know because for the last days she was away on family business. We got two short but interesting clips from that time. The first is her searching for wifi with her Amusphere like with a phone, which I just find adorable. The other manages to greatly convey how terrible Asuna felt dealing with all that rich people without any words. I appreciate those things.
Anyways, Zekken is a mysterious player that just appears at the same time and same place every day and fights every person challenging them to a duel and promising the winner a new strong original skill. And most importantly, nobody managed to defeat them in combat yet. Not even Kirito, though the others suspect that he didn't fight seriously because it wasn't a life-or-death-situation. Except for Suguha, who claims that she saw the two talking before the final hit. So Asuna decides to also challenge Zekken to find out the truth herself.
We also find out Asuna has two accounts, which should be impossible from what we learned so far. Apparently we can't have even one episode without a problem or illogical scene. Though what does Kirito know, I mean he's still using the head-microwave.
And that was essentially everything. As I said not much, but also (nearly) no problems. Everything from now on staying on this level would already be a huge improvement.
