I'll be the first to admit it: I am one of those ponies who likes to read the comments on bad!fics and LOL over them
But tonight, I've seen a lot of things I've found offensive in people's comments, including the use of the N word and some casual references to rape, as well as a macro featuring a girl with down's syndrome and a "funny" caption. It makes me feel uncomfortable when I see young folk acting so disrespectful towards, well, anything so serious.
And it makes me ashamed that I'm on this site and associating with people who think things like that are funny -- Though I'm not really associating with them.
And maybe this makes me an old fuddy-duddy (I am, like, twice the age of some of these writers because LOL I'm old), but it's just so not cool. It makes me wonder what's happening to society when things that are so offensive are tossed about so freely.
I hope someday these ponies are ashamed of themselves. After all, aren't we all here to revel in the magic of friendship, not put others down and make statements we'll someday regret?

I'm glad to know that! I feel so out of touch with the younger generation (and my own peers) as it is and it's good to know other people don't accept this kind of casual indifference towards sensitive issues as well.
believe me i cant stand it either im a bisexual male so i get hit by alot of these comments IRL i hate seeing them here as well

And I'm a gay fat woman who doesn't get people her own age, so I know how you feel. I see a lot of things said on the internet that affect me personally, as well as other people I know. It makes me sad that people just don't care or even think about the fact that they may be offending some one, because not every one is going to find horrible "humor" funny.
