    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

C&C chapter 40 entering prereads tonight + teaser

Much as I didn’t want to, I made the decision to break it up since the full length of the War Council meeting had exceeded 20,000 words and will probably approach 25k for the now-two chapters before all is said and done. The breakpoint itself will be between learning about the general war situation both Aricia and the Griffon Kingdom face, and then discussing what in all the Crows they’re going

Midnight Rising/C&C update: April showers may bring May flowers...

But of more interest is the emergence of 17-year cicadas in my area. Big, ugly, red-eyed insects that are the size of your thumb but basically harmless, as long as you can get past all the shed skins they leave behind on leaves and the everpresent and disconcertly loud background sound they produce as a mating call. Fortunately, the outbreak in my area seems pretty limited. There's a few around,

Midnight Rising update; Feathered Hearts C&C teaser...

Hey, folks. Here’s my weekly writing update. I’m tagging this as C&C since that’s what the teaser below is about, but the blog is about both it and Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising.

Plans for December... · 5:03pm Dec 3rd, 2018

Well, having knocked all but one writing to-do item off my list for November, we move into December with yet another ambitious schedule. We're finishing off the TAS revamp, doing at least two new chapters for Unleash the Magic: Nightmare Night, and hopefully at least one for Flight of Firefly, as well as work on my anthro novel. In between all that, I also have a bunch of stuff to preread for several different people; I believe that list is now four authors and eleven chapters long.

There are some complicating factors right now, however. Not the least is which I find myself with some anxiety at the moment. In fact, I've been suffering what might be a couple of outright anxiety attacks, including one this morning. What's causing it? I'm not entirely certain. I've been having some minor health issues of late; I'd been suffering spells of what seemed like weakness or faintness despite my being very active and hitting the gym and hiking trails religiously. They found a Vitamin D deficiency (which, since it has a weakness as a symptom, could account for it), so I've been taking supplements for it, but it can apparently take 4-6 months to resolve even with supplements. Work has been tough lately, certainly, and despite that I've been putting a lot of pressure on myself to get out new story chapters, so burnout might be a factor as well.

My doctor, I'm pretty sure, is convinced I'm suffering from anxiety more than anything else, and she may be right. It's the old chicken and egg argument--do I have anxiety because I'm suffering symptoms, or symptoms because I'm suffering anxiety? Either way, I need to relax and clear my head, and that may mean I have to slow up the pace of my writing and stop putting so much pressure on myself to get things done. Believe me, I'm very gratified that people like my stuff, and like most authors there's nothing I like more than seeing favorable and thoughtful comments on my stories. But I've only got so much mental and emotional energy, and a period of recharge and reflection may be in order. I have two weeks off for the upcoming holidays, so I'll be trying to take advantage of them in one sense or another.

So I guess the bottom line is, please bear with me, folks. There are things going on with me that likely need some TLC and down time. This may also mean I need to step away from Skype for a bit, for those who converse with me over it. If so, please don't take it personally.

Take your time.

It is the that time of the year to ramp up pressure and activities that can easily add to general anxiety. Best wishes for the holiday season and we'll be here whenever things happen.

I have to say, I just finished Five Star's story, and am really looking forward to reading the rest of your material! Hopefully you have a good holiday season

Thanks! :pinkiehappy: That was my first story, and in some ways still my favorite. Glad you enjoyed, and hope you like my other stuff too!

Most definitely!
I've just started your Pheonix Wright story, and can absolutely tell your hand in it

Take your time, dude. Anxiety issues are no joke.
