    Mortal Kombat 1: thoughts

Once again it's time to opine in relative obscurity, but it can't be helped. For a new Mortal Kombat game is upon us - to be the first since Mortal Kombat 11, which was released in 2019. Beyond the enjoyment that a new installment is sure to bring, there is an even more compelling reason to blog, and that is the premise of the story.

I was observing a member of the target demographic playing Minecraft the other day. Apparently she had recently learned of the bucket capability, which allows one to transport water (or lava) and dump it where desired. I saw that she had dug a hole, into which a villager had fallen, and was dumping water into it. I asked her:

"Are you trying to drown that guy?"

To which she replied, "Yeah," as if it were obvious.

I said, "Don't drown him, that's really mean."

Her response was, "Why not? He's never going to do anything for me."

This is what happens to children raised in Capitalist societies. I'm not saying Communists are right, but the Capitalists obsession with rational self-interest warps the development of the moral mind.

Did you know Ayn Rand praised a serial killer? Can't make this crap up.

I didn’t, but I’m not at all surprised.

I would add that this individual's sister recently asked me, "Hey, wanna torture some ants?"

On the other hand, they are just as likely to fawn over cute puppies and kittens as express sadistic tendencies.

What are these individual's parents like?

Seemingly normal, I'd say.

This is why I subscribe to facts over feelings myself. Fact: Most people tend to be self interested by nature.
