Saturday 1940 Easter Egg Hunt · 3:41pm Nov 17th, 2018

I was wondering when people would start noticing the characters that I used in my Equestria : 1940 story looked familiar, for those of you who know history (or Google Wikipedia). Some of them are obvious, like the historical FDR, while some may be familiar to my readers as Laminia is. Some references are oblique, like ‘Soap’ MacTavish or the William Goldman derived quote (which was accidental by the timing, but intentional for the quote). So just for the fun of it, take a spin through the story and see how many historical/fictional characters and places of the era you recognize. One caution: Their *rank* may be different than you remember from history.

TEquestria : 1940
While Europe sinks into bloody war and the powers of Nazi Germany dominate the continent, a new dark power begins to rise that could destroy them all. The Nightmare is returning. And all will bow before her glorious night.

Bonus points for:
FanOfMostEverything for recognizing the Goldman quote
dvdspires for spotting Mr. MacTavish
Kris Overstreet, who earns a half-point for a suspicious look at Jimmy without quite picking up on his identity.
Same for Starkice, who thinks Col. Bradley looks a little suspicious too.
KMCA and FanOfMostEverything share a point for Dr. Jones back in Chapter 15.

Oh, I got Dr. Jones and Col. Bradley and Wrong-Way Corrigan, along with of course Lewis and Tolkien.

I assume Puff the Magic Dragon is supposed to be another reference?

I'm almost positive I know who Jimmy is. I expect he'll be a real miracle worker, provided he can be prevented from drinking anything green.

But I didn't want to spoil it for others.

I thought I saw Sgt. Fury of the Howling Commandos comic
