Something that’s bugged me for a while.... · 6:46am Nov 10th, 2018
Unless it is said explicitly, I CANNOT for the life of me tell what gender anyone is on this site.
I know, sounds kind of dumb and pointless, but because of the “new” stigma MLP gets nowadays, I literally can’t tell if an account with a female pony avatar is actually a girl or just a guy with a female character/OC. (Or a non binary gender just so I don’t get scewered in the comments.)
Is what I’m saying making sense? Does anyone else have this minor issue besides me or am I just crazy?
I don't really see the need to know unless you were planning on meeting the person in person. A lot of people it is pretty obvious anyway. From a female perspective people not knowing is a good thing sometimes. Would you believe that there are bronies out there that actually give me issues with "you're just a dumb girl, what do you know about My Little Pony?"
Yeah, that was annoying for me too at first, but I'm a big fan of using humor to cover my discomfort. I usually just stick with calling them "he/she/it... thing?"
They'll either laugh, correct me, or ignore me. Very rarely do I get someone who is genuinely insulted. This website is full of people who can appreciate a good joke, especially since most realize it's kinda hard to tell genders online.

Yeah. It really is just me rambling about something pointless, honestly.
And seriously? For real? I... I don’t even.

Yeah. In the grand scheme of things, not really an end all topic, but I thought it might generate some viewpoints here and there.
