Plenty of Fish in Sea (Counteracted) · 3:56am Nov 9th, 2018
I don't know if I'm the first person to realize this or start a thing with it... either way I am very pleased with this discovery, as I can use it to justify attitudes of people, both fictional and real.
THERE ARE MANY FISH IN THE SEA...
Actual meaning: There are lots of potential mates in the world. (You can find another person to love and to be with)
That's true, that is very true, however... there is one small factor you may be overlooking...
The fisherman can choose to THROW BACK any unwanted catches
Meaning: You can choose to refuse any and all other suitable, potential mates. (You wish to be with no other and would much rather be alone)
Best example I can use is Beast Boy...
I applaud Beast Boy for disregarding Starfire's attempt to perk him up the way he did.
EXAMPLE:
Beast Boy is the fisherman, not fishing for food but for a mate, and there is only ONE FISH he is after (Terra) but the whole THINGS CHANGE stuff... the fish got away and will not be back.
So, even if there are other girls who would willing and lovingly want to be with Beast Boy (Not likely to happen) Beast Boy does not desire them and has no intention to give them a chance. He only desired the fish that got away (Terra) so if YOU (Say Raven) bite on his fishing line, and were willing to offer THE WORLD to him (your eternal love and devotion and make him happy) Too bad, HE is the fisherman and he does not desire you.
Beast Boy: "What a waste of time!" *Grabs the Fish* "GET OUT!!" *Tosses her forcefully back into the water*
There are Plenty of fish in the sea (Plenty of potential mates)...
...but ONLY if you DESIRE any other. You are the fisher, you can choose to throw back what does not meet your desire. (You may choose if you wish to never try again)
*PASSIONS*
Julian to Eve: "I'm not going to marry Rebecca. If I can't have you, then I'd rather be alone"
*Buck Rogers in the 25th Century*
Capt. William "Buck" Rogers: I'm sorry. I can't.
Princess Ardala: But how can you reject me? I'm a Draconian princess. Buck! Look at me! Am I so horrible? Am I not beautiful enough for you?
Capt. William "Buck" Rogers: You're one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.
Princess Ardala: Then why can't you love me?
Capt. William "Buck" Rogers: I can't change my feelings simply because you want me to.
Princess Ardala: But how do you know, Buck? You've never tried.
Capt. William "Buck" Rogers: Love isn't something that two people can try to make happen. They either have something very special or they don't. And we don't, Ardala. I'm sorry.
Even other shows get the drift... A man/woman isn't obligated to LOVE someone else (I don't portray Terra as obligated, just realizing her mistake) They are also under no law, and should not be PRESSURED into dating/marrying... or even sexual intercourse (Sorry to say that way)
Being in love and finding a mate is just ONE way of a life. It's a NICE way of life, but it is STILL not the only way, and you can still get on WITHOUT having romance in your life.
So remember again...
There are Plenty of Fish in the sea...
...But the fisherman can choose to throw back what he doesn't want.
...and I am not wrong even in the slightest.
