Read the title in whatever voice you will, but it stands true. I'm back for real... I think.
I finished the next chapter, though it was incredibly hard to do so, and I did some edits to the first chapter because I'm not very happy with how it originally turned out. In fact, I'm still not sure that I like how it turned out, but maybe that's just me.
Alright, I get it. "Just get to the important stuff!" It took an eternity to get this out, so I'll explain myself.
In January of this year, I had some trouble writing the chapter. Normal trouble, of course. Nothing out of the ordinary. However, as time went on, it became a bit more complicated. Lots of stuff got in the way, but it was mainly an issue of the plot. It didn't feel natural, and I couldn't figure out why. With my senior year of high school picking up steam at the time, I had to put the story on the back-burner for a while.
I tried again throughout the year, and made an especially valiant effort during the summer, but I only managed to figure out the problem about a week or two ago: it had to do with how the plot wasn't driving the story if I didn't try to make it, a hard lesson, but a lesson learned indeed. However, I'm in college now. So it took a little while to really put together the time to finish it all. I knew that I had to make it a Halloween treat, though, so I set the deadline with a teaser, and it turned out a lot better than the million rewrites that I did in months prior.
Anyways, things will hopefully go a little smoother from here on out, excluding any hiccups. College is still a thing, y'all.
And truly, I am sorry for leaving for so long. I hope I can make it up to anybody who's been waiting. Maybe it's just a fact of life, or maybe I'm "not so good as I think," but whatever it is, I'm just glad to finally jump this hurdle so that I can continue writing again.
And next chapter: we see what happens with Sniper as he copes with his newfound set of circumstances.
P.S.: I may consider making changes to previous chapters of the story for the sake of quality. Egg me on if you'd like that.
