A short hiatus for this week · 1:39am Nov 2nd, 2012
Earlier I was saying that I wanted to get some writing done around now. Heck, I wanted to have the next chapter of Don't Go To Sleep up yesterday. Unfortunately, it just wasn't ready. It wasn't complete and not in the quality I want it in. Not to mention I hadn't ran any of it by Brony_Fife yet. The thing is, I've had some busyness. Yesterday was Halloween (I was Slenderman) and I was doing a lot for the spirit of the season. By the time it was all done, I didn't have time to do much. And now I face something a bit more serious. Something that regards my future. The time is coming to apply for college and scholarships to prepare for the next four years of education. Not only do I need to start applying for these things, I also need to do some thinking about what I want to study at college. My ideal job would be becoming a game programmer and working for a company I respect and would like to work for, such as Nintendo or Valve, but I need something to fall back on in case it doesn't work out.
So I'm going to do some college related stuff this week to get it all sorted out. I'll have some free time on Saturday, but I'm going to go see Wreck it Ralph with friends during that time. Thus, no writing will get done this week. The up side is that once I do get it done, it won't be on my mind as much and I'll be able to focus more on writing. Plus, with Don't Go To Sleep fresh in my mind thanks to October I'll probably pump out 3-4 chapters this month for it. This Can't Be Happening might even get finished if I really get the creative juices flowing. After this hiatus, November should be an eventful month for my stories.
Also, this:
I wish I had your resolve when it comes to college.
I waited like five years after finishing high school to go to college, and even then it's just online courses. I was trying to save up for moving out before I went, but things happened. Stupid things. And of course, my degree I was going for became worthless halfway through earning it. Trust me, becoming a game designer isn't worth it: becoming a game programmer is probably where the real job is. The real work. You only need a handful of designers, but you need quite a few more programmers. This is some of the big reason for my post Falling Down.
But still, if you are going for programming, I hope you know what you're in for. It's a long and boring and tedious process. I remember not having, like, ANY patience for it after trying to design it for hours, then program it, try to compile it, and get nothing but errors.
