I'm around, but in pain.
Last Friday, I had a minor medical procedure called Radiofrequency Ablation--basically involving microwaving the back of my tongue under partial sedation. The purpose of it is to cause the internal tissues of the tongue to tighten by basically roasting them, helping to open the airway--I'm still suffering a bit of obstructive sleep apnea even after the jaw advancement surgery I had a couple years ago.
It's about as much fun as it sounds. It has left me with a swollen tongue and in severe pain at times; it hurts just to swallow and ibuprofen only does so much. If you've had strep throat, it basically feels like that and has for several days now. It’s costing me sleep and making mealtimes an unpleasant chore.
Pain and sleeplessness, unfortunately, is not conducive to chatting or writing, especially writing adult stories, so I'm off to a very slow start on Unleash the Magic - Nightmare Night and I've not even had the inclination to answer prereader comments on my latest Turnabout Storm chapter updates. And to top it all off, I had to cancel the weeklong vacation I was supposed to be taking this week due to a work deadline that must be met. That doubly sucks.
So please bear with me. I'm getting better slowly, but until I'm able to eat and sleep without pain again, I'm going to be a bit grumpy. I promised two Nightmare Night chapters this month, and I still intend to meet that, but I need to be in the right frame of mind for it.
Yet another procedure I was not aware of that sounds awful. Why have I never been surprised in a good way by one of these.
