Naturally, considering the release date, you'd expect me to do a review of "Smallfoot." However, it's also close to rent day, and so that will have to wait until I recover.
In the meantime, my brother bought tickets for "Mandy" at the Alamo Drafthouse and so I make up lost time with this. Easily the first movie I've seen in a long while that got me wincing. A pseudo-religious group kidnap and burn the titular character and now her husband, played by Nic Cage himself, goes on a revenge rampage to avenge her.
It's gory, it's leud, and the visual choices they made for this film might make you a bit dizzy. But there's one fact in this rated R film; Nic Cage. It always gets batshit bonkers when you have Nic Cage.
It's a delightful change of scenery for me. Though limited to a few screenings, at least in my area, I'd recommend you watch it if you want start off Halloween.
Expect a review of "Smallfoot" in perhaps two weeks when I get my finances straight.
