Believe it or not, I actually got some chores done today.

And that's saying something, because if Diablo IV was this good at any point last year, it would have definitely been near the top of my Best Games of 2023. You know, instead of being omitted entirely.

So let's just say that Armored Core VI absolutely just got smacked out of the running for Best Yesteryear Game.

    Updates and Such

Well, as a thunderstorm rolls overhead (and hopefully doesn't knock power out), I thought I'd offer some updates on what I've been up to.

Long story short, I'm pretty much in gaming overload at the moment.

Yeah, another gaming rant, so what? · 8:39pm Sep 11th, 2018

I've been in the market for an ultrawide 21:9 monitor for almost a year-and-a-half now. I'm very close to puling the trigger. But one of the only things stopping me isn't the price (5 monthly payments of $180 is absolutely doable right now), it's the fact that my current most-frequented PC game, Co-Op Commanders on StarCraft II, doesn't support ultrawide resolutions.

Blizzard, your excuse of "unfair advantage" for your games not supporting ultrawides is, quite frankly, bullshit.

Almost ANY sanctioned tournament where cash prizes are on the line have peripherals and screens provided, and everyone is on an even playing field. But when it comes to online matchmaking, who the hell cares? Even if you limit it to Campaign and Co-op; who wouldn't want their partner to have every advantage they can?

Ugh... I'm ready to make the leap to 1440p 21:9, but crap like this is giving me pause for the moment.

I would never buy a "ultra wide" monitor, they are hype. Like "3D" they will go away over time.

You are better served by having 2-3 27-32" units, far better spread and you can get some of the better ones with little screen edge. Trust me, 25+ years in the IT industry, I see trends come and go, and wide monitor is just a fad that will go away.

I have three 27" 1080p screens, I've tried surround, and it wasn't for me. That itch hasn't gone away.

Do what my friend did, get nine normal-ish monitors and somehow get them to work together

4935836
I like having a semi-normal electric bill.

4935822
Perhaps the screens are not set close enough, perhaps your stitching software is slow/bad refresh. Could be a lot of various kinds of issues.

The wide screen thing, may be "cool bling" but everyone I know who has used one, HATES it after a few weeks. The screen stretch, the graphic quality on text, and so on.

Tfw when one Titan X wasn’t enough so you buy two.

4935839
That's fair.

I do appreciate your input and opinion. The most ideal situation would be to see a floor model firsthand and see it in everything I use my PC for (videos, gaming, word processing).

?

I have one 1080 FE.

4935857
Do that if you can, really look at text and such too. That seems to be the major complaint with them.

4935883
I think I'd have to go at least 120 miles to see a floor model of something that high end.

I have a 34" curved ultrawide, it's been quite the blessing compared to my previous multi-monitor setups. Mostly because I have a lot of disparate services juggled at once.

I think any letterboxing or whatever for starcraft on ultrawides would be ultimately acceptable if that's the only thing holding you back. Unless ultrawide gaming is the ONLY reason you want it. I like it for multitasking things myself.

You got a particular one in mind? Here is the one I have: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824025429

4935860
Oh, that's fine. I was referring to myself.

4935925
I'm eyeing the Asus PG348Q.

4935987
That seems expenssiiiivvveeeee.

What about the AG352UCG6?
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6ZP7WG0092

Seems cheaper and has the resolution, refresh time, and gsync-y bits. Unless I missed something.

Also no reviews.

And this wouldn't be $910 all at once, but $182/mo for five months, a much easier pill to swallow.

4936043
Ah, sorry. It has reviews here:
https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG352UCG6-Curved-Monitor-3440x1440/dp/B07BMVNJZP

Also yours looked to be 100-200$ more total, so I figured being less would mean smaller monthly payments or something. Not sure which site or venue you are buying off of.

4936127
Yeah, I don't know what the hell the criteria is for five monthly payments, but the Asus one has them, and yours doesn't.

Odd.

4936144
-shrugs- No clue.

Also, you want gaming, not sure of your rig. I'd say if you ditch g-sync it'd save you at least 200-300 bucks.

But in either case, whichever suits you, hope you get it fine!
