Story update and new addition to the pile of ideas: second CMC Map Mission.

Hello, all. Simple update, this.

One: I think I'm getting sick. No fever yet, but all the signs are there and it's that time of year again.

String Bean fic: somewhat outlined, broad lines chapter per chapter, still deciding on the overall tone and setting: do I want to put Grand Pear in more of a spotlight, do I want to imply String Bloom shipping, and how much of the dark and depressing original idea do I want to keep?

Bastion fic: the introduction of the griffons is done, the first talk with Fluttershy about her experiences with Bastion is done, the talk with Rarity is about halfway done. Some tweaks to the overall concept, still need to plan ahead some more for the other interviews.

New story idea. Okay, maybe this isn't such a simple update.

You remember when I wrote that 'Rumble's Big Day' trilogy, and it was supposed to be a sort of prediction of what might happen if the girls all had their own cutie mark problem fixing episode? Well, they all had their cutie mark fixing episode, but no hard case. We did get a Rumble episode, though.

Anyway, this new idea would be in a similar vein: after Surf and/or Turf, we hear Twilight say the CMC completed their first Friendship Map Mission.

Suppose they get two more, and each one has a pair of them arguing, with a different member either out of the argument or voice of reason each time?

I propose to write one such fic. The friendship problem involves an OC of mine, an old friend of one of the CMC's, no less, preparing for the Royal Guard Fitness Test. Guess which OC that's gonna be And... brace yourselves, because I'll be writing Starlight Glimmer for the first time ever. I have outlined the story in detail already, more detail than I have of the Bastion thing (it's proving a lot trickier than I thought, for reasons I've covered in earlier blogs). It's looking like it'll be 4 chapters, ish, and I will again be aiming for as close to show style as I can.

Oh, and the friendship problem itself? It takes place in Cornucopia, the Town Where Everything Flies. How's that for a teaser?

I'll keep you posted when I get more definitive progress on the Bastion thing, I think I just need to doodle it at this point and not worry about the planning. It's looking like the CMC Map Mission will be written alongside or before the String Bean thing, I can't put a date on anything with all the RL stuff going on, sorry.

Then there's the issue of cover art. Hoo Nelly, that's gonna take some work. Maybe I'll try to make a pony model like I made for Valt, just something to trace over in Inkscape. Maybe I'll stick to my foal puppets like I did for Warrior Meet.
