Respite 2: Out of Love Finally Posted · 2:43am Aug 11th, 2018
Well, after nearly a full calendar year since I marked The Village Called Respite complete, I finally got it all together for the sequel.
It took a bit of time putting together that original outline and writing out four chapters, then scrapping the original outline due to some personal issues and dissatisfaction with the direction of the story and overall verse, and getting cover art from the ever-talented Arcticwaters (go give her some love, she and her sister, Selective-Yellow are terrific). Then, well, there was about a month and a half of me sitting and twiddling my thumbs.
Somewhere along the lines, I was able to get fifteen chapters done and come up with a much stronger outline for this thing. This silly, stupid little thing that started three years ago when I thought I'd make myself a gag character who would pester a side character in another story. Then it became all of this, and that silly gag character became one of my favorites, no matter how some felt about the machinations and need to stick her nose in others' business to make them happy. And even no matter how much those personal issues made me shy away from writing for her over the course of three or four months before a conversation with three of my closest friends convinced me to write and fall in love with her all over again.
Goddamn, do I love Esalen. It's kinda sad that some of my plans for her might change and that she might not meet that old OC she (and later, Toola Roola) were supposed to pester and fall for and wrap around her hoof, but who knows?
More importantly, the Respite crew is back after a few months of silence and they're all grown up. If I could be arsed, I would probably turn that into an nWo Wolfpac reference, but fuck it. That idea was ruined by Vince Russo's booking too.
And, of course, for those who are so inclined, here's my Patreon if you'd like to become a patron.
Hope you all enjoy the ride.
Yay!
I am glad to see all of them returned ;3
Respite has a special place in my heart, honestly, and I am glad to see you've continued it.
Hot diggity damn I missed Respite. It's good to see the gang back together and on new adventures.
