I couldn't help but notice that, while my friend and I have been pouring our hearts into a story that emphasizes adventure, drama, and a bit of comedy, it isn't doing as well as, say, the one story where Rainbow Dash hypnotizes two mares to getting their butts stung by wasps. It makes me think, should I focus more on my kinkier stories or focus more on the serious story and be a better writer

Well, the reason I've been so absent is because I've completely shifted my focus from my hobbies of writing/drawing to working my life out. Lack of motivation and inspiration kinda hits hard when you are going through a crisis of what you're doing with your life, moreso if your creativity is focused on a fetish that no one likes but you.

That... That's worth it to me. I may catch a lot of shit, A LOT of shit, for what I do, but this makes it worth it. People going "Oh, I hope that there are other than me out there" and then bam. Hit with gift art. It's a great feeling. Fuck what the naysayers say, this is for the strange people that are out there, like me.

Hey, I understand that feel completely. It's always nice to create stuff for friends/paying commissioners who have unorthodox interests. In fact, I just finished a 10K word story I'm planning to publish, which is a gift for a friend of mine. I have no idea what the reception of it will be, but I'm happy that it got such a positive response from the person who got an early look at it on Patreon.
