So This Happened (Lol) · 6:19pm Jul 18th, 2018
So yesterday, a friend of mine had a music concert thingy and she plays the violin and all that stuff. But her sister's boyfriend dropped out at the last minute, so she invited me along to take his place and join their family for the concert. I accepted because I needed a night out, and then she's like, 'Okay, get ready soon, because my parents will pick us up at 6:30," and I'm like crap, because that was only two hours away.
SO I run straight home to shower and throw on the fanciest black dress I've got, and before I know it, her parents are at my house, but my friend isn't there with them...and they're like, 'Oh yeah, she had to rehearse some more, we're going to dinner before the show starts, hop on in!'
And I'm like....okaaaaaay 
SO. I get in the car with these people, whom I've never met before in my life, and they take me to this fancy restaurant that I've got no business being at 
And we go in, and I sit down with the rest of the family, and they have me sitting in the middle of everyone, and I'm still half shocked when they introduce themselves. I sat right next to my friend's dad, and he pulls up his phone and shows me hundreds of childhood pictures of my friend, and I know she'd be mortified if she knew what I was looking at
The nice thing was, they offered to pay for my food even though I was about to pay myself. And here I am, a black girl living it up with my friend's rich white family I don't know--that's something you don't experience everyday 
Some funny moments happened like her dad wanting to set up the cute waitress with his other son, and my friend's mom scolding him. They asked questions about school and what I wanted to be in the future, stuff like that. Nice friendly people. Even asked to feel my hair at one point.

So, that was my adventure. Rich food in my tummeh and a lovely concert to boot

I've had a fairly similar experience with one of my friends. He left for the bathroom at one point while at this fancy restaurant, and immediately I was under the scrutiny of a bunch of his family I hadn't known existed.
His little cousin took everyone's straws and tried to make a teepee on the table.
It's always a very special experience to get welcomed into a big, friendly group like that.

It's cool that someone you consider a good friend comes from good people. Always nice when a friends family likes you.
