George Carlin is my favorite "philosopher." Lyra is best pony. Raindrops is best pegasus. Sunset Shimmer is best human.

Yeah, I bit the bullet and pulled Chapter Nine of GL:A. It may or may not return in some form at some point in the future, but that will depend on how my re-organized plan for the fic shapes up. Hell, I've toyed with the idea of a massive re-write of everything up to this point. We'll see what happens, though.

In other news, my Sunset Shimmer x human smutfest continues to make slow, but steady progress. I'm now three-quarters of the way through the second scene. After that, only one scene remains to be written before final tweaking and eventual publication.

Aww.. :ajsleepy: I hate the Hiatus tag.
I'll look forward to the Sunset fic in the meantime though!

...Eddings was a harsh taskmaster. Stay strong, neighbor.

I'll hold back my opinion for now until I see what comes up in GL:A. Now I'll just put down my pitchfork, but continue holding the torch as I wait for Shimmer.

I don't think it's necessary in your case however. I think a simple rewrite of the chapter is the most of what's needed here.

It's a supermassive pain in the brain, but it's also part of the process.

I'm firmly with 4903378 on this. The problems in chapter 9 were largely self-contained so there's no need to mess with the earlier chapters.

That said, I won't say there's no benefit at all to revisiting them to some extent because the reality is that you can never catch all your mistakes in editing so you'll undoubtedly find typos if you go through it again and you will also find places where your skills have improved which you can clean up, but that's really more cleanup you would do on the side if you decide to reread it, not something that needs a rewrite. I'd say you're better off sticking with what you have at this point and continuing forwards with the story starting with a rewritten chapter 9 since you will always be improving as a writer so you're better off putting those skills to work on new material rather than endlessly retreading the same ground. If you want to do a second version of this entire story after you finish you can definitely do so (and it would let you explore different relationships by changing your shippings), but odds are you'll prefer to start something more different instead.

I agree with this assessment. It really was a self contained issue.
