Months passed since the film was released in a limited amount of theaters. Months pass since it's escaped my prying eyes. And now months pass and this man finally sees it for himself in the comfort of his house. It lost the honor of being the first of Wes Andersons' films I've seen in theaters, but it certainly is the first of his works I own on DVD.

Is it worth the wait? Yes. Definitely. And it brings about a balance for a PG-13 animated film, a balance that not even Ralph Bakshi's milder works like "Wizards" or "Fire and Ice" manage to make. The dog puns are Flinstone levels of funny, and more mature as they come from the dog characters. The music reminds me of Akira Ifukube' work outside the Godzilla films. The story is slightly predictable, but in execution, it's barely noticeable to first-time viewers.

I was hoping to dedicate my very first reaction video to this, but some circumstances prevented so. Perhaps it's for the best that I do not spoil this to hundreds, thousands of others who haven't seen this yet. My verdict: This is the best animated film of the year, a standalone film at that. Buy it, rent it, don't download it for free (please support the official release). You will not regret it. Not ever.
