    Got my hard drive fixed

And all my data's been restored. It even costed less than I was originally quoted. Still pricey but I got my data back, and backed up on 3 different USB drives.

    Proof I'm not dead

So I'm aware I've been dead quiet lately, and I felt the need to touch base. So here's a peek at the next song in the upcoming chapter without any context. My way of giving you something. Its no where near finished, but progress is being made.

    Harddive died

Last year when I had my little vacation I noticed my laptop having signs of its approaching death, so I ordered a cheap external hard drive. It was a panic purchase, I am very uneducated on computers aside from their general use, and copied all my data. I since used it as the main storage space to keep microsoft's prying eyes out of my affairs (its the spirit of the thing rather than having

    Yup Shingles

noticed it yesterday night. My eyeliid aching and red, and I got the start of a rash around my left down to my checkbone. I ran out today for a refill on my huge-ass anti viral pills.

I mean, I got these before I started having any holes in my vision, but I hate that I'm back to stinging, burning eye pain.

A very stupid kitchen accident · 6:02am Jul 16th, 2018

I was chopping vegetables for dinner with my trusty chef's knife, and accidentally did this. It doesn't hurt yet (the first 24 hours always seem to not hurt me when it comes to injuries) but this is going to be a real bitch come morning. already trying to avoid using it while typing this. quite the challenge. I have some liquid skin which acts both as an antiseptic and a sort of shellac that keeps air and dirt from getting in the wound. Its probably what's keeping the skin from falling out of place.

Today's lesson: don't get distracted while chopping food, especially if you just sharpened the kitchen knives.

Ouch, that hurts just looking at your injury...

Keep it clean, and enjoy life more, eat out more often...

... I wanna be sympathetic, but there's a part of me that just looks at my left hand (the scarred veteran of my eternal, accidental war against my own hands) and then calls you a baby. It's just in an awkward spot.

(Also, maybe look up some proper cutting techniques? It looks like you bite your nails, so they're less of a protection, but even still there's no reason why you should risk cutting your fingertips in food preparation. Especially not your thumb.)

huh, if you had not told us that this was a knife accident , I would have thought you burned yourself.

I'm reminded of a time when I was about seven when I asked my mom if I could help prepare dinner, and she had me cut some radishes for the salad. I was old enough that my mom let me use a knife, but still too young to use one without supervision. My mom had my older sister help and watch me to make sure I didn't do anything stupid.

Well, she watched, alright. Watched directly as I cut a noticeably-sized piece of flesh off the tip of my left index finger. Like yours, the injury didn't really hurt until later. But it bled so much that my mom wanted to take me to the hospital. We almost went too, but a handful of napkins, some duct tape, and a not insignificant amount of time put a stop to the bleeding; and five hungry and slightly freaked-out kids with dad still at work made my mom's mind up for her.

EDIT: Not to try to one-up or derail or anything. :twilightsheepish:

Eh, don't worry about it. doesn't hurt at all really. Nearly slicing the skin off was the worst part. And it was my own fault getting distracted and neglecting how you're supposed to hold your thumb out while pushing vege into your chopping motions. Completely my fault. Typing's just a bit weird since I can't use the tip of that thumb. Weirdly, the time I cut my index finger on the potato peeler hurt worse. Dull blade I guess.

It'll be interesting to see if the skin comes back to life since I have it pressed against the wound.

It does, but if I were to peel the liquid skin off that sliver of skin would fall out.

Nah, I like getting little stories like this started. I remember once my grandmother was baking a cake in her stand mixer and like you and me in our stories she got careless and got her hand trapped in the moving beaters. broke one finger and split the nail of her index finger which took years to regrow properly. The cake was a little pink but no one seemed to notice, or so the family jokes. XD

Potato peelers and cheese graters give the worst of cuts. Because it's not enough that they freaking hurt, (I think it's a combination of dull edge and frequently happening where you have a lot of nerves,) but there's also the part where someone inevitably laughs and asks you how you managed that, as if you're the only person who ever has. Jerks.

god yeah. I keep most of my cooking stuff loose in a large drawer, so when I reached in for something I caught my finger on the peeler which was sitting blade up for whatever reason. My finger brushed past it and I lost a small circle of skin. Sucker hurt like a bitch for days, and I'm the guy who still uses stuff like Iodine and rubbing alcohol to cleanse wounds so that... sucked.

My one benefit with this cut was that I was cutting bell peppers, and hadn't started on the jalapenos (I was making some additions to the taco meat I was browning).
