    Bucket List Results

Remember the spring break bucket list I posted about a month ago? Well, it's time to look at the results. And I'd say I did quite well. Especially if you consider how much I added since the initial post. Who knows, I might be able to cross off a few more the next couple days, as my initial plan to be already playing Persona 5 Royal at this point took quite a hit.

    Goddammit Nintendo

Just casually releasing a new Direct.
And only half-revealing the next Smash fighter. Though I'm glad for the franchise.

Marwile watches SAO Part 17: "What was the point?" · 10:00pm Jul 13th, 2018

I feel like I developed a dull apathy for this show in less than twenty episodes. Must be some kind of record. The next episodes might change that.
And completely unlike the first volume of the LWA manga I read today. Go and watch Little Witch Academia. It's a great anime by Trigger (Kill La Kill). And then read the manga. Chapters 1 and 2 are only a retelling of the first episode, but the other chapters focus on new original stories that happen between the episodes. You'll get volleyball, mushrooms, Sucy and Lotte flashbacks and Akko as Diana's maid.

Anyways, in the last episode Leafa and Kirito realized their true identities and Suguha confessed to Kazuto she's in love with both of him.

Kazuto is reminiscing about his life and how he was apparently very distant to Suguha after finding out he was adopted (he hacked his government files when he was 10, if you remember). No dea how she fell in love with him. He tells his sister he'll wait in Alfheim to settle things with her.

She decides to go and on the way meets Recon again. Remember Recon? Suguha's friend and classmate who was captured by the Salamanders and then immediately forgotten? Well, he's back and promises his help and then proceeds to confess his love in the most awkward way possible. Can't have any competent males beside Kirito... Or females for that matter. Still ship, because everything is better than her brother.

Kirito and Leafa meet up and start to fight. No idea why and it doesn't matter because before any actual fighting starts they drop their weapons and hug and everything is solved. Yup, that was the big resolution of the incest sideplot. It could have been worse, like becoming a couple (urrrgh...). My own thoughts disgust me sometimes.

Kirito tries to climb the tree again, this time with Leafa and Recon in the back to heal him. It doesn't work of course. Recon is the first to notice and instead tries to help by jumping in and destroying bots with his magic. And he becomes quite the badass suddenly. In the end he even blows himself up to kill a huge chunk and clear a path. Recon has a bigger kill count than Leafa now. He's the true hero of this story.

Sadly, all his work was pointless because Kirito can't follow up and the path closes. But then the sylphs and cait sith (at least once I remembered) get their big damn heroes moment and save the day. The catgirls are even riding on dragons. I have to admit, that's at least one cool thing in this anime.

So, remeber back in the beginning how Kirito theorized that the top of the tree can only be reached if all nine races work together? Well, apparently two that just spam their strongest attacks are enough. Now that I think about it, we only met four of the nine races, three if you don't count Kirito who chose spriggan at random.

But the battle isn't over. Leafa tosses Kirito her blade. Now the battle is over. As you know, once Kirito gets someting to dual-wield he turns into an unbeatable super state where everything that touches his battle aura explodes. He reaches the gate at the top while the others retreat.

But it still isn't over (why) as Yui confirms Kirito's suspicion that the treetop was never meant to be reached and the gate was programmed that only the system admin can open it. Though to Kirito's luck Yui can open it with the help of the keycard Asuna dropped. And then the episode finally ends.

Looking back, there were actually many things happening this chapter (even if half of these events culminated in nothing). Couldn't they have spread them out across the episodes where nothing happened?

Yeah, it was great. I love SAO Alternative as much as SAO proper is bad. I wouldn't mind a second season of that.
Btw, remember when I mentioned I accidentally spoiled myself? It was Pito's real identity. Though only the name, not that she's a loli.

I strongly suspected Pito being the frequently mentioned Pop-singer ever since the letter from the protagonist, so I guess I was right about one thing in the end.

I would like a second season as well, with more characters and friends tagging along.
