Spitfire and Sunburst are cousins. They're an unlikely pair, but they make do with what they have.

    some cover arts

Hi there! Been hellishly busy lately, especially now that everything's returning to some variation of normal.

Did a fair bit of ponywords in spite of that, both new and old. Though I haven't really been keeping you guys up to date on the deetz since... Christmas, looks like. Time to rectify that.

    Merry Christmas!

I had been busy prepping something thematic for the occasion but alas, I couldn't finish in time.

    So have another story instead!

As for the Hearth's Warming story, maybe it'll come out soon. Who knows? :raritywink:

    a quick September / October check-in

First off, not dead! That's a start!

Second off, got vaxxed, which may or may not have played a part in the whole not being dead thing. Aftermath of the first jab was hell. Second one apparently was too, according to my upper arm. Otherwise, all's good!

Monthly Progress Update (Or Lack Thereof, Really) [July 2018] · 10:43pm Jul 10th, 2018

me rn

A little bit later than usual with this one, since I'm stuck in the first week of July with the show I was involved in, which finished last Sunday night. I'm still a little sour over what it could have been had there been better management both financially and creatively. The director was a little, let's say, overprotective of the creative decisions in the show, which I can fully understand, but at the same time, there didn't seem to be a concrete direction that they're willing to take it towards. They seemed okay with everything put on the table, never coming to make any proper decisions themselves, to which it then fell back to some of the more experienced actors and I to make. It was those other people I've met as a result of that fortunately far outweighs all of these problems— we're still meeting up for a little celebratory barbeque of sorts on Friday. At least I can say that I had a great time, even if the end result wasn't as fruitful as I would've liked.

Moving forward, I'm eyeing another musical audition coming at the end of this month. This one seems more proper and professional than the other one I was involved in. Hopefully I can get in this time as a performer and not relegated to some backstage role. As much as I've enjoyed snickering with my fellow techies from the control room and teasing our inexperienced stage manager through the intercoms — she did a fantastic job for a first-timer, by the way — I do feel my performing bug nagging at me already.

But enough of my real-life theatrics! Onward to what really matters most on this site!

Panthalassa

Up until two days ago, I've made entirely no proper progress from where I left off.

I really hated the fact that my rehearsal space for was a 2 hour stuffy train ride + tiring bus ride combo away from my home. Considering the distance from my place, it only seemed fruitful for me to crash over there for the weekend with my laptop in tow than to waste at least 12 bucks just to travel back and forth. What irks me even more, however, was the lack of WiFi at that place. I have no idea why it's been like that, but I toiled through staying there for the past several months, trying my best to raise the standard of what was already an incredibly mediocre show, to no avail.

At times, I just resorted to using my phone's data to help me out. Could only get out a sentence or two though, mostly cause by the time I got to it, my brain was already fried dead from watching everyone trying their best to belt it out and squirm in my seat when their voices don't click together. I'm hoping to really get back into the swing of things once I'm done paying my dues and prepping for my next big thing.

Hoping I'll get the next chapter out by next week. It's a stretch, but it's something to make up for lost time. :pinkiehappy:

Okay, now for some quick updates on everything else.

Worlds remains a story that I revisiting over and over and over just to reedit the finest of details. I'm definitely pushing it out once I'm done with it, but for now, there's still a large chunk left to finish. Hopefully this will be the year where it finally returns.

Decadence and Glass Castle, the next two entries in my Tales series that included Copper Cicada and Cascade, are being worked on. Both are vastly different stories in tone, so it's something I'm intending to work back to back once I get to them.

A Whisper In The Wind, the story I mentioned in the previous progress update, is going through an overhaul. The direction I took it in seemed all over the place now that I took a second glance at it. Needs some more thought put into it, I reckon.

Velleity remains the same as I left it. Remember this story? Anyways, I'll be tweaking the plot a little so that the characters involved are, well, in character. Nothing too major though.

Feyspeak is going smoothly, funnily enough. I'm still not used to the heavy language, but it's coming out easier than when I started this story.

Lovely Days is also going through a bit of tweaking at the moment. This story's a little quirkier than I remembered it to be, but I still think it's fine. Might need to pace it out a little, I'm thinking.

Perhaps Death remains the same, as always.

Last but not least, one shall not forget Diprosopus. I have no idea when and if I'm ever gonna get back into it. Like with Perhaps Death, the whole bloody plot is there in front of my eyes and all I need is the time, patience and energy to just put them into words. I'm supremely ticked off that it's been left like that for so long, to be honest.

So yeah, finally, a full update on the whole list of stories currently in progress. Once Panthalassa is done, it all comes back to spinning the roulette on these stories again. I'm thinking Worlds and Diprosopus are in dire need of an update, so they might be next to have something out.

It'll be a busy July for me, but hey, at least it's of my own volition.

WritingSpirit, signing out!
