Call of Cthulhu story update. · 11:16pm Jul 8th, 2018
So, the story is a go, first off; I’ve started on the first few chapters. The other news is that some incredible things happened with my gaming group while I was running the session today:
The first, was that one player (who had to make a new character for this session, due to losing their character in the last mission) had their (native) pony meet the other players’ characters, who had been acting weird, (not knowing what a bit is, or not being able to read Equestrian hieroglyphs) so his character asks where they are from.
One of my players (from The Agency) just blurts out: “The Neighgency, we’re from The Neighgency.”
...And I had to retitle the story. Because that was pony-pun gold.
Second crazy thing that happened... is that we had to stop early. Because everyone wanted to watch the show.
I ended up showing them the first 3 episodes, we would have watched more if we didn’t end up discussing everything so much between episodes.
So, I just inadvertently converted 5 people... I never thought that would happen. So, I now feel vindicated about spending so much of my life on the show & fandom.
whoa! :O
Sounds like things are very productive over there!

Yeah, it’s crazy. I never thought everyone would be so interested.
Oh, your story was in my top 10, FYI. I love me some Hellraiser references.

Thanks! I know I had yours making the cut and would have probably moved it up considering what all made the cut. I guess I won't ever understand the tastes of some folks.

I agree with most that mine wasn’t fully there. I had a good premise, I worked hard on straddling the good prose line between bland and purple, and then my resolution just didn’t happen right. Two more hours would have had the front cut off and a long aftermath/ wind-down.
Yours should have ranked higher than mine since it was complete.
And some of those stories that made the cut... ummm yeah, like I know both of ours are better than a few of them. The problem with rounds that have huge numbers of stories is that they can be arbitrary, if the people who would have liked yours don’t get to your story because it wasn’t in their initial listing, or in the next 5-10 stories (there were a LOT this round) then you’re just out of luck.
Not everyone does what I do and read every last one. I commented on every piece of art too. Wow that was painful. One person did a submission for EVERY STORY. That knocked it up to over 60, I think.
I love it, you're out there making new converts!

I couldn’t believe it. Like they said “can we stop and just watch a few episodes?” And I was like “uh... what?”
