Not to moan, but... · 1:12am Jun 28th, 2018
Like, I get that people might dislike my work, I write in a sometimes boring way with a possibly odd attention to details. But... why is it that I get dislikes, but nobody comments why they disliked it?
For example, my last one, Candy Cotton's Normal Day, it got a few dislikes, but only one person commented their issue (the wordcount, which I get that you don't want to read a short story, but... I'll get into that in a different post')
Like... do you not like the length? The writing style, the characters, the fact that the title said "normal day," yet you expected an extraordinary twist that wasn't there? That the jam tart recipe takes up too much room?
I want my stories to be good, so some feedback would be cool.
In my own experience. I just tend to ignore downvotes as useless unless they say why they downvoted. Yeah its annoying but what really can you you do? I have had downvotes just for writing a horror story without even looking at my work. And its useless to speculate. Was it a badstory? Was it trolling? was it they had hot dogs for dinner and gave them heartburn so they took it out on what I wrote? Who knows.
Just dont let it get to you. All you can do is your best.

Yeah, it doesn't even bug me to get downvotes, I'm just a slut for constructive criticism.

I can understand that. But I feel the more you write and read the more you get a feel of what your doing right and wrong.

Yeah, I near that. I've definitely gotten better at telling the problems with y writing. I just tend to want other people's input, just to see if I'm biased as the writer.
In fact, don't tell anyone, or post it on a publicly available forum, but I'm planning on taking a break from my current writing to re-write "Twilight stops time", my worst story.
