Planning even more stories for my series · 8:00pm Jun 25th, 2018
I finished the fifth main story in my LEGO Equestria Girls series last week, and as I had promised, here is the blog post where I will further explain all of the future plans I currently have for this series.
First, as I had already mentioned last week, I will soon start writing a series of short stories featuring Starlight Glimmer interacting with each of the main seven Equestria Girls. I was a little disappointed that the official series didn't show us more of Starlight, despite her being allowed to stay in the human world for a few more days, so for my Lego version, I just absolutely had to write some additional content, so I decided to do what I had done previous times and make a bunch of short stories. Expect to see the first of them in early August, and since they should be rather short chapters, expect to see updates every week instead of once every two weeks.
As for next year, my plans for the LEGO Equestria Girls series will be somewhat different from what I've done in previous years. First of all, even though there's been a whole bunch of shorts released throughout all of this year, I will not bother with trying write a Lego version of any of them. I remember my previous attempt (titled More Short Stories, between the second and third main stories) was quite challenging. I was unable to adapt the one featuring Photo Finish, and the completely original one I came up with (featuring Luna handling Celestia's job while the latter is away) I must admit was probably not so great. Not to mention, writing out so many additional short stories would just take up way too much time, and I'd much rather focus on just the main stories next year.
As you're probably already expecting, yes, I definitely plan on writing a sixth main story next year, which will be based on the Forgotten Friendship special we saw earlier this year. When you look back in my series and see that the old Sunset Shimmer was one of the most wanted criminals in the Lego World, it's already obvious that the stakes here will be much higher than what we saw in the official version. Also, considering that Trixie had a surprisingly major role in that special, I've come up with a way to give her a significant part in the next main story. Let's just say that I'm really glad that, back in the fourth story, I was able to open the door for Trixie to possibly be reformed. (Wouldn't be the first time I was fortunate enough to have details from an earlier story turn out to work favorably for a later story. Remember how I handled the introduction of the Lego World's Twilight Sparkle?)
Also, I've heard that there will be a second Equestria Girls special coming out later this year. At this time, we know almost nothing about it, but there is a chance I might consider writing another main story based on it. Of course, this inevitably begs the question: will there be two main stories next year instead of just one? From a practicality standpoint, I'm pleasantly surprised that the answer is yes, thanks to how the fifth story went this year. Based on the number of chapters I'm anticipating, I'm confident that I could finish the sixth story early enough that I could then spend the second half of next year working on a seventh story of similar length. As for whether or not I will actually do this, I'm afraid that'll remain an unknown until I actually see this upcoming Equestria Girls special and can then decide if it's worth writing a Lego version of it.
Finally, there's also some additional speculative ideas that I've been considering to possibly include at some later points in the LEGO Equestria Girls series. One of them is a concept I've been hoping to include for years, and what it is basically is an answer to the question of where all the plastic in the Lego World actually comes from. I already know what it is of course, but I'm afraid I don't see how I could possibly include it in one of the upcoming stories, so this concept is going to have remain on the ideas table for now. Another speculative idea I've had is one that I believe I briefly mentioned last year, which is essentially the introduction of the Lego counterparts of the Changelings. The details I have in mind are something that would never be practical in the official Equestria Girls series, but totally plausible in my Lego version, so if we ever find ourselves in an extended period of time without any official content, I've got something I could use to keep my series going. And just this year, I've considered yet another speculative idea. The current season of the main show has introduced us to a new group of characters commonly referred to as the Student Six, and I've found them so interesting that I can't help but wonder, what would it be like if they were to somehow end up in the Lego World. I've already got tons of ideas bouncing around from that concept, but much like the one about the Lego Changelings, it'll probably be a very long time before I could even consider actually writing anything about it.
Well, that covers just about everything I've currently got in mind for the entire LEGO Equestria Girls series. Like I said, you can expect to see the start of my next story, LEGO Equestria Girls: Starlight Glimmer's Misadventures, by around early August, just over a month from now. Then as usual, I'll start writing the next main story, LEGO Equestria Girls 6, at the beginning of next year, with a good possibility that I could then write a seventh story in the second half of next year. I hope people will continue to be interested in what'll be coming up next for my fanfiction series.
