    Buckle Up

New chapter is entering revision phase. As per my last blog post, please use spoiler tags where appropriate.

Also buckle up. It's going to be a wild ride.

    Concerning Spoilers

I would like to remind readers of Equestrian Horizon that spoilers in comments should be covered with the requisite markup tags or avoided in the first place. This will be relevant now more than ever. Just saying.

    A short detour

Took another detour before heading back in on Equestrian Horizon.

    Defect

Things I discovered writing this piece:

    • I suck at naming stories and chapters.
    • I suck at writing synposes.
    • I cannot post pieces to FiMFiction without titles or synposes, so my terrible ones will have to suffice.
    • I only have a partial idea of how to write Tempest, but also a desire to do so which is infuriating.

    I'm not dead

So I got sucked into Final Fantasy XIV and left Equestrian Horizon to languish unfinished. Then my computer died.

All data is safely backed up on separate drives or in the cloud but I am sans gaming rig for the time being. I am still going to attempt to finish EH by the end of the year. The next chapter, Ouroboros, is done and currently in the proofing and revision phase.

    Onward.

This piece is an amalgam of different influences and source material. After watching The Grey last weekend, I got the idea in my head to ressurect one of my old human in Equestria storylines, breathing life into it using experience I've gained writing for Canterlot.com and reading some of the other work on FiMFiction.net. Though this piece is currently listed as a one-shot, there is a substantial amount of mythology and backstory behind it, as well as source material for several more chapters-worth of fic, which I'll someday get around to writing. The piece is merely a snippet of a much larger work in a much larger world. Expect to see this piece integrated into a much larger work in the future.

"Paladin" is the working title, but I think it fits given the context. After all a paladin is a virtuous knight, a slayer of beasts, and a protector of kingdoms, and Spc. Noah Ingram is... ah, just read it.

PS: Though the story does involve some military jargon with regards to arms and equipment, I try to explain it as well as possible without obstructing the story. The focus is on Ingram's adventure, not the gun's or the armor's or the boots'. I realize that not everyone who reads this is going to know what I'm talking about with regards to gear, so I'm going to encourage you to look this stuff up if you come across something you don't understand. Learning stuff is fun.

Happy reading!
