TLaTU-T finished; what's next? · 7:49pm Jun 19th, 2018
Finally got my vacation and I'm spending a week-plus in Las Pegasus Vegas starting two days ago. How is it? Hot and dry. Temperatures forecast to be 110F later this week, but they keep the giant poker rooms at the Rio conference center they use for the WSOP (World Series of Poker) so cool I had to buy a sweatshirt. How am I doing? Played three daily tournaments and hit the money (barely) the first time, just missed it the second, and did very badly on the third thanks to one stupid decision. But overall, down only a little and looking forward to another tournament shortly. I did running accounts of my poker play on blogs in the past, but this time, I'll only do so if something notable happens.
Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know that TLaTU-T is finished. The T-rated version ended up about 80k words shorter than the M-rated one but still told the story well and was well-received by those who read it. It only garnered 25 likes and 7 dislikes, meaning much to my surprise, it actually did worse in terms of upvote/downvote ratio than the M-rated version. But I don't regret doing it, since it pulled a lot of new readers onto the original Turnabout Storm and even the M-rated version of the story got some downstream likes.
So, a special thanks and welcome go to all new readers, and if you'd like to read more in this verse while you're waiting for the next direct Turnabout Storm/TLaTU sequel, you're invited to check out my two Firefly stories if you haven't already, which describe her rise to the warrior she became in the context of the great Pony/Gryphon war.
They have been very well-received and well-reviewed. If you like war epics with well-thought battle tactics, rich in worldbuliding and populated by interesting characters, give this one a try.
I will return to ponies in early fall, once I've got my new anthro novel done or nearly so. More is definitely planned in this verse, but unfortunately, I can only do so much at a time. There will be a Trials and Tribulations-based sequel (I finally finished the game on the plane ride here!), and Leo came up with a very interesting idea for a side story that explores the fate of Sunset Shimmer in this verse as well--a very unique twist on the original Equestria Girls story which I will likely leave for him to do.
It's about time for me to head downstairs for my next tournament, so one parting note. What the TLaTU-T experience has taught me is that separate stories probably aren't the way to go. So what I will do going forward into the eventual sequels is something suggested by https://www.fimfiction.net/user/123766/kalizecora in a PM he sent me some weeks ago: any story in this verse that may have M-rated action will include T-rated variants of affected chapters. So if an M-rated chapter is released, a T-rated one will be released along with it. That way, hopefully everyone can enjoy the same story without requiring two separate versions of the entire thing that will split interest and likes between them. That work?
Off to play poker. I will try to get another two TAS chapter updates done while I'm out here as well. Until then, take care!
Las Vegasus?
I approve 100% of the thumbnail description you gave me yesterday. It sounds very promising.
Edit: How did you get the tiny little windows with your story to pop up? I've been seeing those since the last site update in posts.

Trust me, if I'm that fortunate, you'll certainly hear about it! Not much luck so far, though...
I did at least mildly reference AA:I in TLaTU when I mentioned Franny and Edgey were investigating an art smuggling ring. I haven't played the Layton crossover yet, though I hear it comes highly recommended.
I will say there will be some interesting alterations, some minor and some not, to the Phoenix and Ace Attorney story for these events. Beyond that, no spoilers, sorry.

Cool! Full credit to Leo for the idea.
Ah. That's the [ embed ] tag. They added it in a site update some months ago. You can use it for anything from youtube videos to fimfiction stories. You'll see it on the edit function bar between the image icon and the quotes one. Or you can just hit ctrl-e.

In regards to the Layton crossover, I have an idea for a 'gaiden' chapter of sorts to the Phoenixverse. Phoenix's trip to London in the game takes place when Twilight was unable to visit (ley lines not aligned properly), so Phoenix and Maya end up telling Twilight about it after the fact.
Sounds feasible. However, wouldn't you still have the problem of not getting as wide an audience as you'd like? The original story would still be rated M, so anyone who'd want a T-Rated story might not even be able to _see_ it if they, like me, have their mature filter up. How about instead releasing a T-rated story and leaving a link to, let's say, a Google Doc with an M-rated version of the affected chapter? That way, you'd still get your M audience without leaving your T audience out of the loop.
