Friendship is Failure Characters (Helper Soul)

Helper Soulwas a male Earth Pony, and a former best friends to Twilight Sparkle's father Night Light. He was a handicapped Insurance Broker with his right hind leg busted irreparably in an an accident he sustained many years back. He was a grouchy and bitter pony that despises Hearth's Warming and Friendship, and as had a tendency to keep to himself than share his pain with others.

*Description*

Helper Soul and Night Light used to be the best of friends, always hanging around and supporting one another. Helper often loved to assist and help anyone in any he could, but his greatest dream was to become Captain of the Royal Canterlot Guard, just like his father whom had died some time ago.

Night Light and Helper attended the same schools together, and both had deep feelings for Velvet Sparkle, but Night Light proposed to her first, which began to spark what would become a seething hatred of the two for Night Light.

Shunned from the spotlight and robbed of credit for an invention he and the newly engaged couple had created, Helper began to resent the two, but had no desire for hostility against the two.

It wasn't until on a the Night of Hearth's Warming Eve that the trio attended a party, when the roof collapse due to excess snow and buried Helper Soul in a mound. He was unable to dig himself out, and Night Light could have helped him, but was busy trying to save Twilight Velvet whom was pinned under turned over tables (Even Velvet urged Night to try and help Helper out of the snow) Only then for a strong beam to fall form above and crush Helper's exposed right hind leg, breaking hopelessly beyond repair, or amputation

Now bound to a wheelie, and unable to ever join the Canterlot Army and fulfill his dreams of being captain, Helper renounced any and all friendship towards Night Light and Velvet, and secretly moved away to Ponyville to get away form them, not wanting them to cause him anymore pain than they already had, and wanting nothing to do with them ever again.

A year after, on Hearth's Warming, his mother had died in heartbreak, feeling upset that Helper had lost his dreams, devastating Helper and increasing his already brimming ire for Hearth's Warming and Night Light.

The only job he was ever able to secure was that of an Insurance Broker, and while he was a success, he was unable to find any romance in his life due to no mare wanting him due to his handicap which prevented him from doing many things and engaging in many activities. As a result, he never had a family of his own and spent many, many year alone, and tending to his aching leg, and despising Night Light and Velvet Sparkle's family (Shining Armor being Captain of the Guard, married to Princess Cadance and having a child, and Twilight becoming an alicorn princess of friendship) all things that could have been his!

Years later, Night Light and Velvet Sparkle, visiting Twilight for Heath's Warming, discover Helper and try to befriend him all over-- Still blissfully unaware of his hardships-- only for him to harshly reject them, leading Twilight and family wanting to help him reconcile their friendship.

All efforts turned out to be fruitless, as Helper showed he had no interest in reconciling or being nice to Night Light, or any member of Twilight's family, and in the ensuing arguing, Flurry Heart threw her rattle at his cast, severely hurting him and causing him to storm out into the snowy night.

Appalled by his behavior, Shining Armor tracked Helper down and attempted to reprimand him, but Helper finally confessed the reasons to his resentment towards Night Light and the family due to all the pain and trouble he had suffered, and that no amount of friendship would repair it.

After singing a heart breaking song of lamenting all the things he craved, lost, or never had, overly depressed and hurt, Helper suffered from heart failure and died on the cold ground.

The entire family grieved for his death, especially Night Light, now fully realizing how Helper really felt and what he had cost him. Despite the facts and the family saying it wasn't truly his fault, Night Light still partailly blamed himself for the loss of his old friend, but eventually attempted to find his strength to go again, but wished Helper Soul to rest in peace.
