Pony Variants: Party Ponies · 5:16am May 29th, 2018
As I previously explained in my prior blogs, I am detailing my story-canon versions of what I call Pony Variants, and this one explains the living mysteries known as
Party Ponies
There is no pony so mysterious as the Party Pony. These particular ponies do not differ by physical characteristics (usually) but rather by behavior and personality, as well as quirks and habits and inexplicable abilities that simply don’t make sense. Party Ponies defy logic and reason but are by nature benevolent because a Party Pony’s mission in life is to spread laughter and good cheer, often using parties, hence the name.
Due to how rare they are and how unique each individual Party Pony is, very little study or documentation, if any, exist regarding them and none have any true answers to Party Pony abilities other than they are bringers of cheer, laughter, and smiles.
The truth of the matter is, the origin behind Party Ponies is not a happy one. Ages ago, when the Spirit of Chaos, Discord, ruled over Equestria, he subjected ponies to all manners of chaotic misery. But none matched his deepest cruelty when he infused random ponies with some of his chaotic essence. This caused these poor ponies to go mad with all sorts of bad results, some lashing out in violence, others took their own lives to escape Discord’s mocking voice in their heads. Only a few managed to retain their sanity and survive.
After Discord was defeated by the Sisters, these survivors moved on with their lives, despite exhibiting minor episodes of madness and sometimes even making strange things happen. In time, they moved on with their lives and passed away, but they left descendants. These descendants carried on the chaotic magic of Discord, although it thinned with each new generation. However...
Once or twice every century, one of these descendants would somehow tap into the chaotic essence within themselves and displayed strange abilities, such as appearing suddenly in and out of nowhere, making an object appear without any explanation as to where it came from, and often some kind of sense that allowed them to know things, such as things about to happen, how someone is feeling, when a particular occasion was about to occur and when, etc.
It is uncertain as to why Party Ponies are so rare, but the leading theory is, because the bloodline thins with each generation it requires something to happen for a nascent Party Pony to tap into the random yet positive nature they carry inside of themselves. The event that helps a Party Pony unlock their potential is believed to be Inspiration or a true desire to spread good cheer, but most of all, a lifelong dedication to helping others to smile.
Pinkie Pie was inspired by a Rainbow that caused her to smile and desire to make others smile in the same way. Cheese Sandwich was inspired by Pinkie Pie which led to his vow to change his life for the better and spread joy and happiness because Pinkie Pie inspired him.
Like I said, this is story-canon to my own work.
For most part How certain group got infused with Chaos Magic may differ, but the result is as you described anyway
