    Droppin' By

Hello, I was in the neighborhood and had just realized that my last blog post was a bit of a downer, given that it was around the time of my Grandma's passing and funeral. I think I oughta leave you folks with something a bit more upbeat or at least something neutral.

    And Now, A Newsletter

Huh, back in July I said I oughta talk more around here. It's now the day after Christmas and I have not, in fact, talked more around here.

So, I'll give you the rundown on what I've been up to since then. Warning, it gets a little long in talking about last summer's vacation and about a new fixation I have.

Some Thoughts on "Horse Play", and May the Fourth be With You · 5:38pm May 4th, 2018

Well, it's almost been a week, I better say my thoughts on the newest episode before it becomes sorta irrelevant with tomorrow's episode.

I cringed much less than I thought I would. Seeing Celestia being such an awkward actor to the point that she drives an acting coach to tears is somehow magically funny for me, and Celestia using the Royal Canterlot Voice is one of the best things ever. I don't know what it is, really. Maybe it's because the episode isn't all about the cringe, and breaks things up with humor based on finding a replacement sun (especially the part with Trixie's fireworks, pfft). Maybe it's how heartfelt the relationship between Twilight and Celestia was, and how Twilight's casting of Celestia as the star was done with good intentions. Or it's the thought of Cirrus and Nimbus writhing in agony from the ruler of their land messing up the basics, and the mental image amuses me too much. :rainbowlaugh:

Speaking of Nimbus, why does it seem like this season is somehow making my shipping of him with Fluttershy a little more plausible? Between "Fake It Til You Make It" and this episode, canon's saying that Fluttershy's got some acting ability. Well, dang, I feel like I'm being thrown a bone here, for a ship that I only started liking because I dressed Nimbus up as a tree once and it spiraled from there. :rainbowderp:

Anyway, it was a fun episode.

Also, since I'm in a bit of a Star Wars mood, and it's Star Wars Day, I have two things to say...

One, lookit at EQG Flora as a Jedi!

I just drew this because I thought Flora would make an awesome Jedi. :pinkiehappy:

And second...

Bringing this old thing around because it's one of my favorite things I've drawn. Also, I want to know who you guys think should be all the other characters of the saga? You know, like Chewbacca, or Obi-Wan Kenobi, or Yoda, or Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, or the droids, among others. And hey, the personalities don't have to match up perfectly (can any of you really see Pinkie playing Leia?). Just don't involve any OCs (including mine, so no Tomato being Chewy or Lando or something).

I just want the amusing mental images of ponies playing iconic moments throughout the saga.

Okay, have a nice day, guys.

Given Han Smoked-Brie, Chewbacca is clearly Boneless. Twilight works great as Obi-Wan, which means Starlight slots in nicely as Vader, even if that does lead to some particular weirdness between her and Luke Skyfavor. The droids... Well, with Darth Glimmer, Sunburst as Threepio works surprisingly well, and that can carry over to Flurry Heart as Artoo. Just substitute baby talk for droid bleeps. (Alternately, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash respectively. Fastest astromech in the galaxy!)

Also, let's make Trixie be Palpatine. No one expects the Great and Terrible Empress!

4853475 Wait, Spike is not Artoo?

Spike can be Admiral Ackbar, fighting the good fight largely offscreen.

I think I'll go with Han Stilton for Cheese's role. :twilightsheepish:

Not gonna lie, Chew-Boneless (especially if he's as tall as Chewbacca) brings about the best mental images. :rainbowlaugh: I don't know whether imagining a rubber chicken with the Wookiee roar or just squeaking like the toy would is funnier.

I did consider Twilight to be Obi-Wan material (now to think of a dumb pun name). And dang, never realized how well Starlight would work for Vader. Question is who's the other parent of Luke Skyfavor and Princess Pie-a. And while I can see Sunburst as Threepio, I'm not so sure about who should be Artoo. :applejackunsure:

The thought of Empress Palpatrixie is beautiful in so many ways. :trollestia:
