Hymn to Touchdown · 1:07am May 4th, 2018

I don't think I've ever posted a blog where the phrase "apropos of nothing" is more appropriate than here. I just wanted you all to know that this song exists:

I knew it *existed*, but I'd never actually heard it before. And it is... exactly what it says on the tin.

Oh hey, religion guilt. I'm really easily triggered, just the name 'Jesus' and I'm freaking out. :fluttershysad:

I remember reading this song name in Samurai Cat when I was a kid and assuming it was made up. An assumption I have carried with me until this very moment.

There's really nothing guilt-trippy about this song. It's incredibly simple-minded, all 'your will, not mine' swagger.

As Mitch H notes in the comment before mine, it's all praise with a side order of self-subordination. No guilt involved. Plus, it has the line "I've got the will, Lord, if you've got the toe," which is either sublimely ridiculous or ridiculously sublime.

That said, sorry for pulling the Jesus trigger.

Oh, the song is fine, it's all about what you bring there. Like that cave in the Empire Strikes back but I'm more Kylo than Luke.

I'm... actually Christian-ish, but if you've got your mature filter off you'll see that I'm terrible at it. :facehoof:

Isn't the whole point of Christianity that nobody is good at it?

I suppose so. I'd say conservative Christians have a moral purity I don't but its 2018 and who are we kidding. :trollestia:

What does "if you've got the toe" even mean?

If you have the ability to kick a field goal.

This would be a lot more whimsical song for me if I didn't have close secondhand experience of how seriously they take football in the midwest.

The song's still amusing, don't get me wrong, just ... man, it's weird knowing that there are people who take the song at face value.
