So. Probably about two years ago, I drew cover art for a user on this site. I redrew this cover three times until this user was satisfied. He used it on his story and gave me credit and I was satisfied.
A couple days ago, I stumbled on that story to find that my cover had been replaced with someone else's.
Now, this has happened before. I understand that there are many artists with more skill than me and I don't mind if a user wants to replace my work for theirs.
But here's the thing...
This artist took my line work and just digitally altered it.
The poses were the same. The characters were the same. The only difference was the shadows on the characters.
Now, I would be fine if I was given credit as the original artist.
But the author gave all credit to the guy who traced my work.
So I'm done with requests for now.

Wow that is kind of a jerk move on his part. While I have request cover art from others, if I were to replace them (which I haven't) I would have at least tried to have somewhere in the story description something mentioning the original artwork with a link to the original (if possible) and a link to the original artists account.
The fact that the new image is a retracing of the original is bad too. If it was one of my artpieces I would be infuriated.
Did you talk to the author about this?
Quite understandable.
I'd do the same if some did that to me.
And I agree with 4850772; you should talk to the author about this.
