I can handle some criticism · 8:16pm Apr 26th, 2018
When it comes to my writing abilities and the way I describe events that happen in my stories such as this one, I am definitely open to others giving me some criticism about the story and pointing out some mistakes that I may of missed.
But if you are just going to bash my story and my writing abilities and call me a terrible author than that's not criticizing but shaming my work and being a utter dickhead!
Gladly criticize but if your just going to spout off nonsense and be mean about it than your comments will be removed, simple as that! I don't tolerate bullies and no minds. Especially if you haven't even posted a single story on fimfiction!
This is not pointed at any of my followers, or those who have been supportive and have said great things about this story, you guys are awesome! This is to the one user who shall remain nameless........ Unless you can write up something better than me, gladly keep your rude comments to yourself!!!
I hear ya. Some people simply say that someone is a bad author yet, when you look at their profile, they themselves haven't posted a single story. Unless they know how hard it is to write story, they shouldn't be saying junk like that, even then they should know to keep such words to themselves.
Regardless of what that person said, you shouldn't have deleted the comments. That's probably the worst thing you can do. If they were out of line, then leave the comments up so we can see for ourselves how wrong they were. If the guy's attacking you, then block him and report him to moderators. Hell, someone flat out attacked me with illegitimate reasons on one of my more popular stories several years ago, and his comments are still there. I didn't even respond to him, and just blocked him from making further comments on that or any other story I put out.
There were definitely some good elements, such as the whole thing regarding the phone (but how did it not run out of batteries?). That said, I found a lot of the story's logic and internal monologue didn't work for me. I think it's because the story felt like it took itself seriously, yet it was full of cliched and contrived elements that would have worked much better if the story was self-aware and made fun of itself. There were a great deal of rookie grammar and punctuation mistakes, as well as doing things you just don't do in writing, such as underlining for emphasis and/or hyperlinked words.
Thing is, you have to go out and mistakes in order to get good at something, so there's nothing wrong with doing just that, and people shouldn't make you feel bad for doing so.

I appreciate the info, I'll take that into consideration the next time someone says something like that. Didn't really consider it the first time as I have not been given rude comments from someone on here before. I would report him but I'm just gonna ignore him. Not worth it!
And the way you described how the story is written I'll agree lot's of it was chliched, but it's what I had in my head and thought it would be an okay story. I ain't the greatest author on this site, but I'm still gonna keep writing stories and have fun doing it.

That's the important thing. The cliches I mentioned can work if done correctly, but they didn't work for me because of the story's tone. Heck, I was on the after dark clopfic panel at last year's Bronycon, and my clop does the opposite of about 80% of the advice given on that panel. Regarding the other things, watch for underwriting as well as mechanical errors, such as its/it's confusion, your vs you're, and so on.
I won't lie im not really a fan of soarin-dash so I was gonna skip over this one but now I wanna read it just to spite those who berated you for now reason.
I have the same thing happen to me on my story, A Reluctant Herdstallion. The guy who hadn't written even one story have nerve to question my intelligence by wondering if I graduated middle school. But I agree about not deleting the comment and leaving it there so other can see how unfair the person is. But I hope you continue writing mlp fanfiction because I enjoy your works.
