So, last time I posted one of these I was a bit of a sad sap and waxed nostalgic for a minute and went on about not wanting to write much of anything anymore. Well I'm happy to say I'm back writing again and incidentally it happens to be yet another fanfiction. Only this time around, it has pretty much nothing to do with ponies or Star Wars. No my friends, I've fallen in with Shadowrun.
For those not in the know, Shadowrun is a tabletop RPG based in a dystopian near future where the forces of magic and technology exist. Imagine a world where you can conjure a fireball and at the same time have a flamethrower mounted in your arm. In this game mega corporations pretty much run the entire world and everything in it and are constantly in conflict with one another over raising their stocks by even a point. To wage these shadow wars they commonly use what are called Shadowrunners, mercenaries that equal parts thief, assassin, spy and soldier and best of all are expendable assets that can be easily denied. You commonly play as one of these Shadowrunners and take on whatever jobs come your way in order to make a living, pay off debts and addictions, whatever your motivation is for surviving in the 6th world.
Some friends and I have been playing the game for a bit now and it's been a lot of fun. And while we've been playing I've been bitten by the writing bug once again and started work on a new story based on our exploits. Obviously I can't post this on here, but I thought I'd see if I couldn't drum up interest in the thing by letting people know about my latest project. So chummers, if you're keen to see what your old pal Doc is up to these days, then by all means take a look. And who knows, maybe I'll get some more people interested in this game.
