I didn't really want to make this blogpost but apparently I have to, since a couple of people have made public statements and videos about it.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about when I say 'Dusky Novel and Forgotten Dreams drama' and would like to retain your IQ, stop reading here. It's a nasty business and tbh there's enough nastiness in the world that it doesn't need me adding to it.

- Dusky Novel was an up-and-coming fic reader who, instead of letting his work speak for him, tried to skip ahead in 'horse fame' (-_-) by pretending to a large group of people in Skype and Discord chats that he was in personal contact with myself, TheLostNarrator, Magpiepony and GutiuSerenade. He traded 'putting in a good word with us' for favours from people in those groups but refused to give any proof he actually knew us.
- Dusky invented a 'grading' system for people's content and attributed this to us. He gave scores on criteria he had invented to people within these groups and said they came from us. This was often vicious and nastily phrased, which damaged our reputations and caused some people within those groups to lose heart in what had been a fun hobby and leave the fandom.
- Sparrow9642, who was in that group, got suspicious and contacted TheLostNarrator directly through YouTube PM. She was very confused because the only thing she knew of Dusky Novel was that he had redone six fics she had done readings of and written a backstory to his 'OC' that was, beat for beat (and sometimes word for word) identical to hers.
- Word got around that Dusky had been impersonating us. His friend Forgotten Dreams had previously worked with me on Month of Macabre 2016. He contacted me about it. These make up the chat logs in the link provided below. Dusky had told him the whole thing was an elaborate hacking thing and he was totally innocent but could not provide any evidence of this. FD, being his friend, believed him even when the evidence failed to materialise and the logistics of Dusky's story fell apart. If nothing else, kudos to him for the strength of his friendship.
- Unbeknownst to Forgotten Dreams, Dusky Novel had PMed me on Twitter and spoken to Magpie via email. Both of us got the same confession and apology from Dusky for impersonating us and using that impersonation for own gain. He apparently forgot he had sent these because he then doubled down on the hacking story. [EDIT 2: TheLostNarrator kindly provided me with screenshots of her initial conversation with Sparrow9642 and Magpie's conversation with Dusky Novel, which was on Fimfiction, not via email as I originally believed. I have included links to these screenshots below.]
- Neighrator Pony, who is a tech expert, contacted Dusky Novel to check out the hacking story. It did not make logistical sense. He told Dusky this. Dusky at first agreed and admitted he had made the whole thing up, but then refuted Neighrator's expertise, said he knew it was Sparrow9642 trying to ruin him, claimed that the FBI were going to investigate it and promptly disappeared for several months. [EDIT: Neighrator kindly gave me copies of his conversation too, which I have concluded in the rapidly growing link section below). We all thought that was that and went on with our lives.
- Late in 2017 ( I think - might have been early 2018) Babscon posted that Dusky Novel was going to be an honoured guest running a fic-reading panel. I, amongst several others, raised questions about this. Babscon staff contacted me via Twitter PM asking for the background. I gave them what I'm setting down here and directed them to speak to others who corroborated my account with stories and evidence of their own. Babscon admitted they did not know any of this since we had not broadcast our dirty laundry in public while it was going on and removed Dusky Novel from their roster.
- Earlier this year The Secret Dreamer/Animelodie contacted me. She, Quill Stroke and FNGR were in a call with Dusky Novel wherein he confessed without cajoling to have done erotic role play with an 11 year old girl and that he did not think this was a problem because he 'has an illness' that makes him not responsible for these kinds of actions. That call is also linked below.
- I tweeted about this, linking the video. I was immediately contacted by several young VAs and artists I have worked with over the years who said Dusky Novel had come on to them, trying to get them into ERP sessions or asking them about dating, which they had rebuffed [EDIT 3: one artist, who wishes to remain anonymous, provided me with screenshots of Dusky approaching her when she was 17. These can be found in the link section below).
- My tweet and subsequent public conversations blew up more than expected. Forgotten Dreams made a video about leaving the fandom. It was an hour long and within it he spewed much vitriol at me, Lost, Guti, Sparrow and Mag for treating Dusky badly. He also included an audio file I had recorded for him for a comic dub he wanted to do, trying to pass it off as me recording sexual noises for him in some weird kind of revenge audio porn.
- I made my chat logs with Forgotten Dreams and Dusky Novel public to make sure there is no question over what actually happened. Until this post you're reading now, have not spoken about it again.

The internet is only a convenient means by which we can tell each other about it, and of course, commit more drama upon the world at large. I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had to deal with all this, but thank you for bringing this guy’s actions to light. The fact that MLP’s target demographic is young kids probably draws in more of this than some other fandoms, but that doesn’t mean we can or should ever call it acceptable.

Sadly they won't just be in the Brony Fandom I ran into many in the Trekkie fandom.
I really hope that, after this message gets spread around, that this will be the end of this pedophile drama for a long time. We, as a community, should and will not tolerate disgusting individuals like Toonkritic, Performance Major, and Dusky Novel, and pedophile defenders like Forgotten Dreams.
Every fandom has their share of drama and BS. What fandom hasn't? However, despite the amount of drama this fandom has had from time to time, I still love being a part of it. It has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me, just like most of you here.
From this day forward, we should keep our eyes and ears open for any more people like that because it could happen again. We've already had three admitted pedophiles that have come out of the woodwork and have been caught committing these horrible crimes for a long time before it's come out to the public.
We need to be there for each other and try to prevent this from happening again.
Sorry for the rant, guys but this has been on my chest for months since these three sickos were revealed to be pedophiles.
I want to add something meaningful to this discussion -- maybe something along the lines that people like this should not and cannot be considered part of the fandom (#NotMyFandom? Is that how you hashtag? Forgive an old man his ignorance) -- but it'd probably just come off melodramatic and angry, neither of which will really help with the important part of the whole proceedings, which is to let the bastard rot.
He's done. The story's out. Now or later, probably both, he'll burn for it. No reason to give him any more of the attention he so clearly craves and feeds on by continuing to let him impact our lives.

I love this fandom, I love it to death, and I'll stick by it no matter what, but we need to make sure people like Dusky or Toon can never hurt anyone again, and can never crawl back into this fandom (or any other fandom) and repeat this shit.
*Facehoofs* Not here too! I used to be friends with a certain someone in the Furry fandom, and as soon as I found out that he's pedophile in real life, I stopped talking to him, and blocked him. It's always good to publish the truth as quickly and as fully as possible. That way your story is out there before those who seek to ruin you can influence others with their version of the "truth".
Confirmation bias aside, people are inclined to believe the first story that they read. And any rebuttals they see after are seen as nothing but others trying to cover their asses. You did the wise thing here.
For a long time, I've suspected this fandom needed some housecleaning, but couldn't prove it. Well, events like these seem to happen close together when they finally do. It's good that these creeps are being made examples of.

People like this are just wrong as shit. It's almost like they don't have ANY morals whatsoever, my sister a while back had to deal with some jackass like this (sadly she didn't know until it was WAY too late), then somehow I was dragged into it (still neither of us knowing exactly what shit was being pulled), but it ended up being too late to call the police when we figured out what thehell was going on, and the fact that it was at 1:30 in the morning didn't help matters any (it would have probably made it worse if we did figure it out and call 911, being that late and all), so yeah. People like this, in my opinion (sorry if it's harsh), need their asses locked up in the damn prison for several tens of years.

After reading about how Forgotten Dreams wasn't willing to accept how Dusky was a horrible person and spewing such awful things, I have since gone back onto YouTube and here and took all of Dreams' fictions and readings off of my lists here and my favorites there. No place for someone like that in those.
If I EVER become a fic reader as I hope to do eventually if I can get my life in order, I will NEVER act the way these guys have, especially not in trying to achieve 'horse fame'. Would be neat to work with guys like you (especially you Scribbler; big fan) but I won't lie my way to do it. I'll let my work speak for itself.
