You'll find, my friend, that in the gutters of this floating world, much of the trash consists of fallen flowers.

    Haze's Haunted School for Haiku

Long ago in an ancient era, I promised to post my own advice guide on writing haiku, since I'd written a couple for a story. People liked some of them, so maybe I knew a few things that might be helpful. And I really wanted to examine some of the rules of the form, how they're used, how they're broken.

Studio Ghibli, Part 1: How Miyazaki Directs Slapstick

I used to think quality animation entirely boiled down to how detailed and smooth the character drawings were. In other words, time and effort, so it's simply about getting as much funding as possible. I blame the animation elitists for this attitude. If not for them, I might've wanted to become an animator myself. They killed all my interest.

    Can't think of a title.

For years, every time someone says "All Lives Matter" I'm reminded of this quote:

    fairness

This is a good video (hopefully it works in all browsers, GDC's site is weird) about fairness in games. And by extension, stories.

Preferences are preferences, but some of them are much stronger than that. Things that feel wrong to us. Like we want to say, "that's not how stories should go!"

Do you like circles AND haiku? Then you'll be, at most, 50% happy today! :rainbowwild:

EFluttershy's Haiku Journal
Fluttershy writes daily poems.

This all started with a debate on poetry entries in the WriteOff group a while back. Some people were afficionados, a few hated them, and a majority found them impenetrable and/or intimidating. So I took it as a challenge, to make a poetry story that's simple and straightforward enough that anyone could enjoy. Even the ESL readers.

Voters liked it more than I expected. Readers felt comfortable enough to just comment with their genuine reactions, without having to worry about technical and literary details. (Usually, it goes like this: "poetry? I abstain.")

So, after 6 months of procrastination zen meditation, I finally got around to expanding it with a second month just to reach the 1000 minimum wordcount. It's sort of a sequel, but each chapter can stand on its own... whatever you prefer.

If you enjoyed it, do you want me to write blogposts trying to teach haiku theory? Or should I just write more poems? or neither?

I, um, do have a fascination with circles, oddly enough.
