    Bucket List Results

Remember the spring break bucket list I posted about a month ago? Well, it's time to look at the results. And I'd say I did quite well. Especially if you consider how much I added since the initial post. Who knows, I might be able to cross off a few more the next couple days, as my initial plan to be already playing Persona 5 Royal at this point took quite a hit.

    Goddammit Nintendo

Just casually releasing a new Direct.
And only half-revealing the next Smash fighter. Though I'm glad for the franchise.

Marwile watches SAO Part 4 "God, I'm still doing it" · 10:09pm Apr 6th, 2018

After a weird two week break I'm back with SAO. Why? Simple, the channel I watched it on removed it from their program. After only three weeks/six episodes. Usually I'd complain how they replaced another great chance to improve the channel with even more Simpsons reruns, but it was SAO...

Anyways, they moved it to their side channel, which now shows one episode every friday during their AnimeNight. But because I occasionally have better things to do friday night, I missed the last two episodes. I probably won't bother to rewatch them. The wikipedia summary should be enough.

Episode 7 introduced the next member of the Kirito harem, Lisbeth. And in episode 8 Asuna cooked a rabbit for Kirito.

Anyways, episode 9 starts where 8 left off: Asuna and Kirito come face to face with the monster from the opening and unlike the OP running away screaming like little girls. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this.

While strategizing how to fight it, Asuna notes how Kirito never uses a shield or Liz' sword. (Foreshadowing...) They also meet Klein and a group of soldiers.

Guess what happens next...

Soldiers get wrecked. Kirito&co try to help them. Monster overpowers Kirito. Kirito reveals he can dual wield. Kirito alone totally wrecks the monster. Sadly he barely survives with only a few HP left. I'm not even sure if he got even hit after starting to dual wield, but apparently even sword clashed reduce your health in this game.

In the OP it looked kinda awesome when they fought this monster because Kirito and Asuna worked together to beat him. Here Kirito goes full gamer jesus and beats him alone.

I won't even touch the whole 'unique skill' thing, otherwise this would turn into a full rant. It's dumb, convoluted and another lazy excuse to make Kirito OP.

Anyways, Asuna wants into Kirito's pants– eh, I mean, party, but the leader of her guild doesn't want Kirito taking away one of his best players, even though She asked Him. So he challenges Kirito to a duel.

We'll,see the result next week. If I'm not busy or have to work. I often get shifts on friday evening. Actually I have a work shift tomorrow evening which is probably why I won't blog about the next MLP episode. Did anyone even read this far to see this message?

To answer that last question, yes, I did.

And yeah, gotta love it when even the game mechanics help make the protagonist more of a Marty Stu. :ajbemused:

Too be fair at least they explain it later on.

As dumb as SAO is (and man can it be fun to talk about how dumb it is) I still really love the series and I'm looking forward to the upcoming spinoff and sequel anime.

Well, thanks for reading, you two.

And if even the protag says he doesn't know how he got it and even the manual doesn't mention it.:pinkiecrazy:

I can admit that the very concept of SAO is intriguing (there is a reason why it made the Isekai genre popular), but the execution is flawed.
Like the unique skill system for example. If I remember right, it works that each player can get a random, completely unique skill at some point. This is not only bullshit, but also unfair. Some people will get unfair advantages for no reason. How is this game even supposed to come up with 10.000 unique skills (which is one of the most successful launches in gaming according to the author)

4834927
That's not actually how they worked, From what I remember there were only 10 Unique skills and Kirito received the Dual Blade skill because he had the fastest reaction speed out of any other player.

Basically they were given out based on meeting special requirement but I think only 2 ever made an appearance in the series.

Welp, that somehow manages to be even unfairer.
„Let‘s make the strongest 0.1% even stronger!“

4834979
Well I don't think it was ever meant to be fair since the purpose of the unique skills was to find people to fill roles in the 'narrative' Kayaba was trying to create. With the person with Dual Blade skill playing the role of the chosen hero.
