HOPEFUL RETURN: Hitting FiMFiction Tomorrow Night! · 3:31am Mar 30th, 2018
I wanted to make the full joke with the GIF, but this is the best I could do.
Anyway, most of the first part of If You Have a Little Hope is already written and should be ready for your reading pleasure tomorrow, in honor of IYGALL's fourth anniversary. It's going to be pretty slice-of-life and episodic, so I hope a lot of new people come and read it, too! It's got the slice-of-life and comedy tags now, so we're going to be going in a pretty different direction than the original IYGALL, but I'm pretty sure that'll be welcomed by most of its readers. (We'll still be getting a tiny bit of drama with Coco trying to decide whether to take Rarity's boutique offer or stay in Bridleway, but that'll be relatively well explained so second-best Mane Six pony doesn't look like an absolute jerk, as fics sometimes do. Also, that won't come for another few months yet.)
Also, since I found out with Light Pollution that it can be really hard for me to come up with slice-of-life ideas, each part title will be based off children's song titles. The only one I'll spoil is that I intend to release one on my birthday called "Why Were You Born So Beautiful," because even though I'm not Australian, I have Australian fans (and also because that birthday tradition interests me/weirded me out when I first found out about it).
So anyway, prepare yourselves for new coverart and a brand-new story! Unless you're in church service or going to see Ready Player One. Then please, don't read my fic until afterwards. 
I have thoughts on Ready Player One. Without spoilers I'll say its writing is lackluster, and as an adaptation OR a standalone movie it gets a 6/10 saved by soundtrack and amazing visuals. It feels a little too accessible to non-80s crowds and omits much development of the plot and the world itself. It violates the spirit of the book as well as the less important form.
That said if you want to watch it for sick effects and epic location design do it, because those aspects are truly fantastic. Just expect writing reminiscent of the Percy Jackson film:book ratio.
Also I just realized I barely read your stuff and should probably go fix that.

I hope this fic will be a great way to fix that. It's pretty accessible to new people, even if the original fic is 250k words.
Also, I somewhat expected that to happen with RP1. I got my hopes up for the Darkest Minds movie later this year, too. *cough*another thing you need to read if you haven't*cough*
