    Announcing Writing Commissions!

For the first time ever, I am open to writing commissions!

I'm sticking to familiar fandoms like MLP, High Guardian Spice, etc, for now, though in future I may expand to original stories. I am charging £10 per 1000 words with the only restriction being no explicit NSFW stories (explicit sex, extreme gore, character torture and the like), though non-sexual nudity is fine.

High Guardian Spice: Flawed Brilliance and Fantasy Fun (Spoiler review/analysis)

(Note: This is an updated review to include a greater discussion of spoilers, and to elaborate on one or two points I could have made clear.)

TL;DR: Though far from perfect, primarily due to the rough-around-the-edges animation, High Guardian Spice does a wonderful job in presenting its fantasy coming of age story, building on common heroic fantasy tropes to great effect.

High Guardian Spice: Setting a High Bar for Future Western Animation

Despite all the delays, High Guardian Spice is finally here! I will admit upfront that I have some level of bias, since I'm a non-binary fantasy nerd who loves all things magical and colourful. This show was always going to be on my radar, but has it lived up to my lofty expectations?

My Little Pony: A new Generation

My Little Pony: A New Gen is a mixed bag. It has a good setup that builds itself on the legends of FiM, and is a film about the monsters we make ourselves to be. It shows how prejudice and stereotype can be pervasive in culture, playing on our fears of the out-group. It's just a shame the story beats feel so forced, with a portion of the cast being under-developed. The resolution also feels

Re-Edits and New Stories · 10:48am Mar 26th, 2018

Greetings every-creature!

Now that Sacred and Wild is finally complete, I have several ideas and options for where I could go next with my creative writing. I recently opened an old document containing the beginnings of a naturist-style D&D fic, re-editing what I have so far as both a reminder of where I'm up to, and to bring it up to my current standards.

That's something I've been thinking a fair bit about recently. I've learned so much about writing in the past year, I am more determined than ever to finish what I started. I hate leaving any story unfinished, be it original fantasy or fimfics. "Dance of Death" is another fic that has been long awaiting new material, longer than "Sacred and Wild".

I will have to go back and re-edit the old chapters before I start writing new material, but that isn't as much of a bother now that I'm getting into the swing of things. However, I do have an idea for one other fanfic themed around a topic near and dear to my heart; railways.

It will be titled "The Hoof-field Rainboom", referencing the title of the classic (yet obscure) 1952 railway film, "The Titfield Thunderbolt" (which you can read about here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Titfield_Thunderbolt). It will be about Rarity coming into ownership of the line between Ponyville and Canterlot, after recent catastrophe puts the line in jeopardy, threatening closure. It won't follow "Titfield" beat for beat, but it will be a loose parody/homage of the film. A light hearted slice of life story filled with a passion for railways.

This is still in the planning stages, but it's something I would very much like to create this year. But, as always, I'm a rather indecisive brony. So, I put it forward to you, my readership; Which would you me rather do? Edit and finish "Dance of Death"? Finish the naturist/nudist D&D comedic fantasy? Or write the slice-of-life story themed around railways?

I look forward to your feedback!

Until we speak again, never stop learning.
