Dragonball Super Episode 131/Finale (Spoilers) · 1:39pm Mar 25th, 2018

So I need to talk about the end of Dragonball Super for just a minute.

What bullshit.

Not U7 winning, not the wish being used to restore all the universes that were erased. All of that was preordained--anyone with half a brain knew that was how the ToP was going to end.

Admittedly, Juunanagou being the last man standing was something I didn't see coming, but ultimately it didn't make any difference--the outcome was the same, and Goku's the one who defeated Jiren in the end anyway. Well, Goku and Frieza.

No, what I'm calling bullshit on is the hackneyed "Zen-oh-sama knew you'd do that" shit tacked on at the end.

We're expected to believe that this bored, detached child-god whose only concern is his own amusement predicted, calculated what would happen at the end of the tournament? Expected it to end this way?

Absolute, unfathomable bullshit.

According to the Grand Priest, Zen-oh knew that the last warrior standing would be virtuous, and would wish for the resurrection of all the erased universes. And, if the last warrior standing had made a selfish wish, Zen-oh would have erased everything.

Yes, everything.

THAT ACTUALLY MAKES IT WORSE.

So yeah, I'm calling absolute, unmitigated bullshit on everything that happened after Juunanagou made the super wish. And that whole "let's just arbitrarily give Frieza his life back so he can have a happy ending too" thing was so hackneyed. I'm sorry, it really was.

So Super is over, but there's no question that there's something else coming, and I hope like hell the next phase of Dragonball doesn't heavily involve Zen-oh and isn't a big load of BULLSHIT. And whatever comes next, it'd better have the U6 Saiyajin as major recurring characters.

I'd really hoped Super wouldn't have a Bullshit Anime Ending, but...there you go. :unsuresweetie:

Honestly it makes sense, the whole point was to basically take the weakest universes and knock some sense into them so they would change and had he been wrong about the winner then that meant it wasn't worth keeping any of those universes around.

Yeah it sounds stupid but he's a god and they kind of getaway with grand actions like this. I mean Beerus got away with destroying planets that couldn't impress him this is just the same thing on a larger scale.

Well... anyone can like or hate the ending depending on their opinion. I like the ending, but i don't mind that you don't.

Aye. That moment where they revealed that moment about what they would do would make even discord say; “Seriously?”

I don't think Zen-oh knew 100% that that was going to happen, he simply thought it could happen and bet that it would. IMO it shows that Zen-oh has some degree of depth and not all that childish that he appears to be on the surface

Honestly, the only thing that surprised me was 17 being the last warrior standing, other then that everything pretty much went the way I thought it would. Even the part about Zen-oh knowing that is what would be wished for.

I was shocked by the Grand Priest revealing that. So the whole tournament, besides being entertainment for the Zenos, was one big Secret Test of Character to see if the universes were worthy of surviving. I actually think Zeno’s reasoning makes sense, a mortal making a sacrifice to save other universes from being erased, even when several of them were pushing for you to suffer the same fate, does prove you are worthy. Thank god a selfish person like Frieza didn’t win. I guess that little bastard is a lot smarter than we all thought he was.

I gotta say though, all things considered it was a pretty awesome finale. Goku, Frieza and 17 teaming up to take down Jiren was awesome with some fantastic animation to back it up. Super definitely went out with a bang.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Frieza in the future.

I really don't like how they went ahead and let Frieza be revived, and no ONE protested. They know full well at this point that Frieza will never change, not even after being sent to hell twice. The entire universe is better off if Frieza stays dead. If they wanted to bring back a villain and justify letting him live, Cell would've been a better choice. Perfect Cell, as sinister and sadistic as he was, was willing to let the Z-fighters have a chance to defeat him even when he was convinced no one could best him. And Cell at least could easily be checked, whereas Frieza would likely just grow stronger and stronger out of a desire to get revenge.

I think the reason no one protested is because in the end Frieza did change, if only a little. The fact that he swallowed his pride and fought alongside Goku to save the universe shows this. At the very least he earned a second chance and if he wastes it all Goku has to do is beat him again.

No, what I'm calling bullshit on is the hackneyed "Zen-oh-sama knew you'd do that" shit tacked on at the end.

Just watched the last 3 and all I thought was, "Hit was the best," at the end.

The "God knows all and will not be proven wrong" thing... Seriously, Akira?

"I can't go Ultra again because reasons."
-HOW'D HE MASTER IT THEN?!

"Jiren is defeated."
-Let's Goku him and let him power back up.

I seriously couldn't have cared less at that point. What with the White-haired Super Saiyan Ultra Deviant-Art Donut Steel form Goku got, Jiren's mere existence and all of the stupid jobbers that were rolled out and KO'd for the sake of a shitty tournament arc, this couldn't have been a worse way to handle a series. I still think the best episodes we got in Super were ones where we saw Vegeta being a parent, Goku just hanging out with his friends and family moments between the rest of the cast. Honestly, I hope the next whatever it is that comes next is just nothing but FILLER. Let the characters actually become characters and not color palettes with power levels.

At least 17 got a boat.

So...in a cosmic sort of way with how that plan was going down...Lord Zeno is God, Goku is Bob and...Frieza is the Devil maybe? Going the Bob route?

I'd have died laughing if Goku burned the wish to bring Kaiō-sama back to life.

The difference is that with Beerus, that is literally his job. His existence as the Hakaishin is literally for the sole purpose of destroying worlds, either to make space for new ones or because the world is a threat to the safety and stability of the Universe. Zeno destroys on a whim because he is bored. This whole omniscience bullcrap was pulled out of their ass, 'cuz he sure never got portrayed that way before. At all.

4825227
I completely agree 100%. The entire ToP arc was a big sour mess for me except for anything involving Caulifla and Kale. Caulifla is totes my newest waifu.

4825277
EXACTLY THIS. The Hakaishin and Kaioushin have clearly defined responsibilities and purposes in their respective universes, and they are mature, responsible beings with the wisdom to use their power the way it's intended to be (for the most part). They understand the consequences of their power. Zen-oh is a child god with unlimited power and absolutely no understanding of the consequences of his actions. He's a cosmic horror shaped like a blueberry jawbreaker.

I can understand enjoying the Universe 6 saiyans, as I enjoyed the little moment between Vegeta and not-Tarble. Also since Hit exists, their entire universe is justified as a Jojo reference.

Hey Moth. What are your thoughts on Sword Art Online getting a season 3?

Honestly, it sounds more like the Grand Priest came up with the whole thing, and then the Zen-oh's just took credit for it. I mean, there's no way those two can plan ahead.

4825497
A yawning chasm of how immensely little I care about Sword Art Online.

4825510
I know, right?

Yeah, a crazy thing that the Zenos did to see if there would be a character of great virtue who would put their own needs aside to save all the other universes. You might as well just say " Hi. I wanna do this to make you into a virtuous being so you'll save the universes that I willingly erased after their fighters were eliminated and not make a selfish wish." I feel you on the universe 6 saiyans; I liked Caulifla, and I wanna see where dragon ball will go next with their next series. I did hear this movie that's coming out will be about the origins of saiyans or something like that.

4825707
Also, consider the following: The whole point of the ToP, as we were told, was to weed out the weak universes. Putting aside the fact a tournament is a horrible way to test the worth of a universe (it's Dragon Ball, everything is solved by a big fight), this ending makes no goddamn sense, because either A, Everything about weak universes and mortal levels and Zen-Oh intending to wipe out all the universes anyway was something that the Zen-Ohs and the Grand Priest made up for shits and giggles, or B, the Zen-Ohs changed their mind at the end and decided that the other Universes could stick around for no reason. After all, even if they got wished back, they were still weak and slated to be destroyed. So either way, the Katamari Damacy wannabes are completely incompetent and should be dethroned and replaced with someone with at least a long enough attention span to stick to a plan for 45 minutes.

4825420
the question (asked incessantly, it seems): "ugh, but how can anyone possibly like Caulifla!?"

the answer: "because she a cute and does the punch things good."

Admittedly, Juunanagou being the last man standing was something I didn't see coming, but ultimately it didn't make any difference--the outcome was the same, and Goku's the one who defeated Jiren in the end anyway. Well, Goku and Frieza.

It gave character development for 17, as he was planning to get a boat. However, he put aside his wants and did what was best.

According to the Grand Priest, Zen-oh knew that the last warrior standing would be virtuous, and would wish for the resurrection of all the erased universes. And, if the last warrior standing had made a selfish wish, Zen-oh would have erasedeverything.

Yes,everything.

THAT ACTUALLY MAKES IT WORSE.

I think he meant all the universes, not literally everything. And I think that's a great way to show that behind the childish nature, Zeno understands mortals, and isn't so stupid. There's a reason the multiverse hasn't been erased yet and Zeno doesn't cry like a baby all the time.
