Does A Favourite Mean Anything? · 8:13pm Mar 21st, 2018
If you favourite a story, but don't leave an like then what's the point on putting it on your favourite list? Normal readers and writers do this which I don't understand, if you're a writer I want you to look at your most popular story and think on what wluld've happen to that story if tons of people favourite it but there wasn't a single like anywhere. All the dislikes are there but no like.
When you make something, either be for fun or just testing future possible stories by making a strange and out there story. Then you would want people who favourite the story to like it. This goes for normal readers who don't do any writing.
Artist or musicians or just a normal fan. If there's people who like some of the awesome work you make then what would happen if that all went away? Only the dislikes happen, for me that means no one liked the story and it's a failure, I was right and should only stick to Teen and Everyone stories.
Meaning that any Mature stories I have will either be cancelled or just delete without a word. With is bad for the people who had given it a like and a favourite. But I think I know the real reason, it's because you can't take away a like.
Once you hit the dislike or like button, you can't remove it. You have to pick a side and a lot of people might favourite the story I or maybe even you have, but is just afraid on pressing that like button because future chapters might not be what they wanted to see.
It's strange for sure since most of people do this and I'm not hating on anyone. I nust want to figure out why this is a problem that isn't just on FIMFiction, it's everywhere and it might be an end of something you love if don't like it.
This is so true, every now-and-then I get a notified saying someone favorited one of my stories, yet, when I check it, there isn't an additional like to it. Not to call out anyone who does this, but if you favorite a story, at least show that you like/support it by leaving a like, it could convince the author to continue writing if you do.
Well, at least you have likes and favourites, which is more than people like me can dream of.
I think that was true for previous versions of this site. Now though, you can take away, or change, your like or dislike by clicking on the respective icons.

I agree! I get frustrated whenever I see that with my story. If I post a new chapter, I get notified if it goes into five bookshelves, but when I check the story, there's only two additional likes. Then again, I don't hit the like button on every Youtube video I watch so...it could be a similar mindset for some people.

Wise words, I know that only too well.
