Cutie Marks are unique picture-like symbols located on the flanks or haunches, and it is also reminiscent of. The mark itself is positioned where livestock branding is usually performed. Cutie marks are often related to the personality, proclivity, or talent of the character.
The cutie marks are obtained when ponies discover a unique characteristic that sets themselves apart from others.
Now what some people have been YAKING to me about is...
Cutie Marks are ponies actual SOULS, and the DRIVING FORCE of their magic
Which I find totally ridiculous. The cutie marks are not the pony's soul, other wise if they lost their marks like the did throughout the show, they'd be dead. Or even still, because they had no mark while young, how are they alive?
So a Cutie Mark is NOT a soul.
As for the driving force...
One hater said to me (starfleet 4) "Since Rarity lost her cutie mark... she's out of business. She can't sew anymore without her cutie mark."
That is a silliest thing I've ever heard. It's just a picture on her butt showing that she IS good at things. It's not the driving source of her abilities.
What the hell is MLP and deluded fans trying to teach? That you need some tattoo on your ass to do things, and without it you can't do them? Wake up, people!
Even without her Cutie Mark, Rarity CAN still just pick up a sewing machine and get to work. Talent comes from within YOU, not from items or symbols.
Another thing that steams me is people think Cutie Marks are you destiny calling and all the fuss they make over it like it's the most important thing in the world.

All Cutie Marks are really are just signs of something you're GOOD AT or something you CAN DO. It's not really your life's calling.

And Diamond Tiara, the way she fussed about Cutie Marks and rubbing it in ponies faces... ! What next? You have to wear CONTACTS instead of GLASSES to be accepted and be respected?
This is why I hate Cutie Marks, because people make so much FUSS over such silly objects.
That's why My Space Ponies don't have Cutie Marks.
Grand Ruler Does not have a Cutie Mark. It's not that he outlawed it, it's not that he hates them... he just CAN'T have one;
He is a Chosen Child of the Gods. His three horns and his golden wings... THOSE are his markings. Is a very rare SUPER-ULTRA PONY (born once in an EXTREMELY long time) Destined for great and powerful things.
The problem is... he's so powerful, multi-talented, skillful... the magic that makes a Cutie Mark appear just can't seep into him; much like how germs can't get through your skin without any cuts or scratches to enter through.
So he'll never get a Cutie Mark...
When he created the Space Alicorn race, he was required to use HIS MAGIC to mix the stuff and DNA together to make the baby space ponies. This makes the Space Ponies born naturally stronger and swifter (Like Sayian babies) but... unfortunately this very magical force prevents them from having Cutie Marks either.
All Space ponies are born like this, and all their offspring carry the same magical gene. No ifs, ands or buts about it... No Cutie Marks!
Again, Cutie Marks are not outlawed, it was just an unintended side effect.
Even still, the Space Ponies; even if they COULD have Cutie Marks, they realize that they can live just as well without them and they don't need some picture on their butts to be special.
Remember, again... talent and special comes within. Not from symbols. The mark just SHOWS or TELLS what talent you have... it is not the actual TALENT itself.
An Actor may have a degree showing they are talented, but the degree itself is just a piece of paper. The actor doesn't need to carry the degree everywhere to show he's talented, and losing the degree doesn't take his talent away. All it would really do is make it harder for people to acknowledge the talent and for him to find work... but the TALENT itself is preserved.
You don't need a degree/cutie mark to be special or talented.
Just like you don't need to LOOK a certain way to be accepted all the time.
This is why I consider many people to be mentally inferior to me in fics and reality.
What's next? Just because you didn't learn ONE SUBJECT in school makes you the dumbest person in the world? (Oh, wait... that's already happening.)

Since throughout the show, we've seen Cutie Marks given, cursed, or switched...
So, as I do in my FRIENDSHIP IS FAILURE seasons, I'm pretty sure that Cutie Marks can also be REMOVED other than by Tirek. I don't know how, but it must be possible
Boy cutie marks. Sometimes I understand cutie marks and sometimes I don't.
The magic that make cutie marks appear come from inside the pony, not from outside.
Comparing cutie marks with degrees if fallacious.
Also, you made an argument that ponies fuss over cutie marks based on the point of views of the children who don't understand what cutie marks really are. It's like a child who can't wait to grow up, not realizing the responsibilities that come with being an adult.
