Roles of Blue Apron and Shaker & Spoon in Fiction · 3:28am Mar 4th, 2018
A long time ago, I created this survey question:
Say you were to order a meal from Blue Apron, and a cocktail of Shaker & Spoon to go with it. What would be the exact meal and drink that you would order?
I asked on Facebook, Quora, Twitter, and even made a form on The Insane Creators Guild with that question. LyraAlluse and I talked on that post, and the talk inspired me to create this blog post. Now to begin with the explanation of the two companies:
Blue Apron is a service that specializes in meal kits. Whoever orders from them is sent a package filled with farm-fresh pre-apportioned ingredients kept inside a refrigerated bag, and recipes to create with the ingredients. Unfortunately, the Blue Apron YouTube page has no explanation video detailing who they are. But, I can show you the first and only video that I've seen where someone tries Blue Apron:
This here is one of my favorite Blue Apron-sponsored videos(You can skip to the ending to look at another explanation for the company.):
Shaker & Spoon is another company. It serves cocktail ingredients to a person ordering a shipment straight to their doorstep. The package comes with three recipes, and the ingredients for them. Enough for twelve. They have an explanation video:
Here's the first video I've seen of someone trying it out:
This is the video that first introduced me to Shaker & Spoon:
These companies are similar in which they deliver creation kits to doorsteps with recipes for the kits. I asked how they are similar to Quora, and tweeted the question, tagging the two companies' Twitter accounts. Shaker & Spoon responded, saying the differences. They've been around since 2015 and are still a private company, while Blue Apron was around for longer since August 2012, and are now publicly traded. One thing that they are similar is that they are based in New York. Shaker & Spoon is in Brooklyn, and Blue Apron is in the same city that Brooklyn is a puzzle piece of.
My talk with LyraAlluse involved these two companies being pieces of fanfictions. I could do something with these two for this one story that I made a blog post on earlier. But what could YOU do? What could writers like Lunasservant1985 do? Leave your answers to all this post's questions in the comments.
