With A Simpler Time now up, I have two FiM stories to tackle. One being the sort of dark-ish Apple Family story I mentioned in my previous blog entry.
The other one...well, it's gonna make me or break me to do. But I find the concept for it so cool that I can't avoid writing it.
I shy away from OCs (Original Characters for those unfamiliar with the abbreviation) in fanfics because dabbling in OCs in fanfics is risky business. They can be done well as has been evidenced here and there, but the lion's share of OCs are atrocious characters and the fics that include them are nothing more than drivel. I'd rather not associate myself with that scene; however, this story I intend to write gives me no choice in the matter really. This is because this is another story I mentioned in my previous blog entry and is the one set in an alternate version of Equestria.
I'm taking a Fringe-style angle on this, so while the characters physically will be very similar to the Mane Six we know and love, in many (or in some cases all) other regards they will be very different characters. Equestria itself will also be similar to yet different from the Equestria we know from the series. History has gone differently there. Some locations will be radically different due to events that played out very differently.
I fully acknowledge that this story could fall flat on its face, but as I said I like the concepts I've come up with too much to let this story go unwritten. I will be posting it when it's done for you all to check out, so please do look forward to it.. In the meantime, please do enjoy my other FiM stories here as well. ^_^
